The Foster Wife by Cindy Dorminy is the story of Amelia Day, who has moved on after a broken heart and opened a dog-themed business to ensure it never happens again. Using techniques she applies to foster animals, she reforms bachelors, preparing them for lasting, productive relationships. Phin Baxtor is a professed bachelor and food truck owner, but when Phin’s friend makes a bet with him that includes a Stratocaster guitar, his music-loving spirit can’t pass it up. Phin bets against Amelia’s abilities but finds himself drawn to her. Amelia and Phin start to wonder what it would be like to have a real relationship, but the bet, an ex-boyfriend, and walls erected to keep a relationship from blossoming may ruin their chances.

Cindy Dorminy has crafted a feel-good romance that will keep readers turning the pages! The layered characters and well-timed pace will interest readers as they root for Phin and Amelia’s possible romance. The book is almost an enemies-to-lovers romance, and although some of their exchanges could be considered cutting, they never hate each other. Dorminy provides the perfect setting in Nashville, Tennessee for Phin as he is an aspiring musician, and the city gives Amelia ample opportunities to locate potential clients. The secondary characters step in for comic relief, and the romance heats up quickly. Dorminy has produced a fantastic stand-alone novel! The Foster Wife is a great choice for readers who enjoy romances with playful banter and happily-ever-after endings.

What a lovely, sweet rom-com!
It's a great clean read that centres on the relationship between Amelia - who's been badly hurt in the past - and Phin - who's a confirmed bachelor. Amelia moves in with Phin to be his foster wife and train him for the marriage market. Except Phin has an agenda of his own.

I loved the dog training methods used on a man to make him more marriageable - especially "crate training" - and the play between the characters was truly heart-warming. Amelia was sweet from the start but Phin was a bit of a lad. It didn't take long to see beyond the superficial persona and his character soon grew on me. The warmth that grows between Amelia and Phin is believable and endearing. The ending was very satisfying and so cute. I highly recommend this book. It's very much a bonus if you're a dog lover!
