Love ghost stories? If you can't travel to this small town in Ohio, you can still hear about their hauntings in The Ghosts of Chagrin Falls by Julie Anne. As the author says, who would have thought a small Ohio village would have enough spirits that 740 people have seen one there? But they have and many of the true stories of people encountering those spirits are told in these pages. As an added bonus, in addition to the stories of the ghosts, there are chapters on how to tell if you have a ghost in your house, how to prevent ghosts from dwelling in your house, and how to get rid of simple ghosts.

While I'm sure it wasn't funny to the women hired to clean the house on West Orange, I did chuckle at how many cleaning people quit upon being accosted by the ghost there, especially when Julie Anne wrote that the owners now just deal with the spirit and as a result the upstairs bathroom isn't the cleanest room in the house. Other hauntings described in this book occur at a swim club, a local cafe, a hotel, and theaters. I did find the information on how to prevent ghosts quite interesting and wondered if I should pour a line of salt outside of all my doors and place a small vial of salt at each window as the author suggests in The Ghosts of Chagrin Falls. I was also relieved that dusting, vacuuming, and mopping prevents the accumulation of negative energy because my husband keeps our house super clean.
