In the third book of the Anna Maria Island Series, The Greysons by Dana L. Brown, Charlotte/Lottie Luce's pipedream of building a future with handsome FBI agent Nick has become a reality. She and Nick are now engaged, expecting their first child together and planning their wedding. When they travel to Nick's mother's home in New York, he is pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome after such a long time apart. Before the young couple realizes it, Elizabeth is organizing the wedding and building bridges with Nick. Charlotte is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that Nick is so perfect. They begin their married life together and prepare for the birth of their baby; Nick has aspirations of finally leaving the FBI and becoming a teacher. As their love grows stronger each day, strained family relationships need to be resolved and Charlotte finally realizes where her low self-esteem issues stem from. Can she learn to love herself as much as Nick loves her and achieve a career that is as successful as her marriage?
The Greysons by Dana L. Brown is an exquisite fairytale romance with vibrant and interesting characters. I loved the way the story switches from past to present as it gave me a great deal of information into the thought processes of Charlotte and where her lack of self-belief originated from. Nick and Charlotte were evidently in love and the chemistry between them was beautifully relayed. I also thought the moments Charlotte spoke to her Gran were quite endearing and I would love to know more about the wonderful and caring character of Gran, maybe if there is a fourth book? The cast of characters was also a great addition to the story and their issues were cleverly woven into the main plot of Charlotte and Nick. There were many touching moments throughout as family issues were resolved and relationships rebuilt. This is a perfect old-fashioned romance to escape into and it will leave you feeling warm inside.
