The Healing of Gaia by M.C. Nelson is a beautifully written book describing Earth's history with humans, and the planet's crisis that they have caused. It is an educational book with a message of hope and healing. It also serves as an inspiring call-to-action for children. As the parent and child read through the book, they learn how they can make a difference in the world that they live in. Illustrated pages enhance the fairytale-like story, creating the perfect book to read as a family, or even in a classroom as it is full of information, words from around the world, and healing exercises to practice.
I was impressed with the way The Healing Of Gaia was written. M.C. Nelson did an excellent job of creating a book that any child would enjoy. Written for all age groups, it offers several different ways that the book can be read, depending on the age and reading level of the child. I loved that it discussed what was wrong with Earth and what we humans can do about it. As it points out, the young ones have the ability to heal what we (sometimes oblivious) adults have done. It is our responsibility as parents (and aged ones) to listen to our children, follow their examples, and listen to what they have to say. They are here to heal the earth. Gone are the days of "Children should be seen and not heard!" Now, as parents, let's take a stand and join our children in healing the earth. Let's say, "Enough!"
This book was both educational and inspirational. It is perfect for the family who wants to take an active role in our future environment. It teaches the reader why it is important to become active and how to take an active role. I loved that it teaches us to listen to our intuition, because that is how we hear what must be done. Whatever actions we take, when we make them in love, we can't go wrong.
