The HEALing Revolution Diet by Dr. Randall S. Hansen is an enlightening and useful self-development and health book. As a teacher and mother who is enthusiastic about education, health, and critical thinking, I found this book original, as Hansen challenges us to reconsider how we view food, health, and recovery. This is absolutely essential in our society in crisis (the environment, people tending to practise less sport, pollution, and so on). The author makes the straightforward but impactful claim that industries that put profit ahead of people's health have taken control of what we eat. We know it, but tend to forget it. The book provides ten guidelines for real healing, ranging from avoiding processed foods and refined sugar to consuming more organic, locally grown, and high-fiber foods, which is a very important message.

In The HEALing Revolution Diet, the author’s refusal to be dogmatic struck a chord with me. One-size-fits-all solutions are not advocated by Dr. Randall S. Hansen, and that is so true in all fields. He asks his readers to pay attention to their bodies, try new things, and make a commitment to long-term health rather than temporary weight loss. In my role as a teacher, I frequently observe young people's confusion regarding food and health. Clarity, empowerment, and common sense are all provided in this amazing book. Additionally, the tone is personal throughout. I felt as if the author was speaking to me. That is probably why the book feels so approachable and relatable. Dr. Hansen also shares his personal journey, which includes his weight struggles, the lessons he learnt through trial and error, and disenchantment with conventional wisdom. I finished this gem of a book with newfound motivation and useful ideas. This book takes you on a journey of food. What it used to be, what it's become, and how anyone can easily make better diet choices "one choice at a time". For me, the best parts were the encouragement throughout the book. The simple explanations of complex concepts. The tons of resources and stories from real people. And best of all, the recipes! I would recommend this book because it's an "all in one" type resource that anyone wanting more energy and less weight could easily use.

This very detailed book offers lots of advice on how to make healthier changes to both our diet and lifestyle. In this book, the author tells us that food can be either "our medicine" or "our poison", and I found that quite thought-provoking.

I think that in this day and age, with so many convenience foods available, some of may choose to eat convenience foods because they're tasty, and there for us to eat. It may be that if we have a demanding schedule, we don't prepare meals from scratch, simply because we feel we don't have the time.

As a person who also has a sweet tooth, and a weakness for snacking, I thought about how I could apply some of the advice in this book to my own lifestyle. The points made about comfort eating and 'distracted' eating (eating while looking at your mobile phone, etc) resonated with me, as did the advice about lifestyle changes, including regular breaks from looking at our screens. Technology is so incorporated into our lives these days that we don't always think about it.

There's a lot of information in this book, but it's presented in a format that's easy to work with. There's a variation of recipes to try out, and I really enjoyed looking at that section. There's also a section that includes some inspirational success stories.

In general, I felt the author expressed himself in a way that comes across as encouraging and motivational to the reader. This book could be a very interesting read for anyone, whether you're looking to make changes to your diet and lifestyle or not.
