The Holocaust Conspiracy by Olena Vasylchenko is a thriller set in Russia and Ukraine with scenes in London and South Africa. Viktor Wolf stars as the undercover spy, tasked with apparently innocuous activities while trying to discover high-level corruption within the government. However, those suspects who are on the shortlist are murdered one by one without any apparent reason and with no clues as to who has ordered their deaths. What begins as a fact-finding mission to uncover the truth becomes more dangerous as the real danger is revealed. The love interest with the sculptor Oksana provides a second level of interest, but she has close ties with a Russian oligarch and his wife. Can they be trusted? Whose side are they on? The tension increases right up to the explosive ending. This story is a whirlwind race through well-researched locations in Europe, South Africa, and Britain.

In writing her World War III thriller, The Holocaust Conspiracy, Olena Vasylchenko has given us a tale right up there with John Le Carre and Len Deighton. At first, I was puzzled by the title and how it described the story, but it all became clear, and, as the action speeds up to a terrifying conclusion I could not turn the pages fast enough. There are so many red herrings; who could trust who? Viktor Wolf is a lovable and likable character. He is so well drawn that I was holding my breath as he ventured into dangerous places time and again. Was this just another fact-finding trip across yet another border, or was he being lured into a trap by his enemies? The settings are so realistic, especially Johannesburg and Cape Town which the author describes accurately. This book will do very well with lovers of spy thrillers whose stories never age, and this one is right up to date. A fantastic book well worth reading especially as Vasylchenko is familiar with the cultures of Russia and Ukraine. A modern spy thriller with tremendous appeal.

The Holocaust Conspiracy is a political thriller by Olena Vasylchenko. Viktor Wolf is a Ukrainian military intelligence officer working undercover in London. Having lost his child and wife in a car accident, Viktor is suddenly called upon to investigate the case of the missing generals who were involved with the ballistics missiles program before the fall of the USSR. Meanwhile, he begins a romantic relationship with the sculptress Oksana Shevchenko. Viktor travels to South Africa following the trail of a drunk shipping magnate and a Bible-punching mercenary general. He unwittingly finds himself embroiled in a sinister conspiracy involving an experimental nuclear warhead lost during Ukraine's surrender of its nuclear arsenal in 1994. Along the way, he saves an oligarch's wife from an ostrich. But can he stop the nefarious plans of a sociopath who wants to unleash carnage?

If nailbiting espionage thrillers are your jam, The Holocaust Conspiracy is the book for you. Olena Vasylchenko infuses a healthy dose of suspense, action, and mystery into a gripping narrative that rarely lets you take a breather. There is a feeling of tension and intrigue embedded in the narrative that you can't shrug off until the climax as the plot pulls the rug from under your feet over and over again. Every character has their own agency, and while you root for Viktor to come out on top, you also want to see some others get their comeuppance. In conclusion, Vasylchenko draws from actual historical and current world events to deliver an edge-of-your-seat political thriller you don't want to miss out on. I was rooted to my seat while reading the book, and you will feel the same!

The Holocaust Conspiracy: World War III Looms by Olena Vasylchenko is a captivating blend of spy thriller, murder mystery, and romance. The story unfolds in London. We meet Viktor Wolf, a major with the Ukrainian Military Intelligence working undercover as a minor official on the staff of the Ukrainian cultural attaché in London. Viktor’s assignment is to keep tabs on the interaction between a Russian dissident, Vladimir Tarantyev, and a waiter at a London riverside café. When Tarantyev disappears and later dies from a Novichok or other latest nerve agent poisoning, Viktor’s superior, Colonel Ekaterina Muranova, assigns Viktor on a new mission in St. Petersburg, Russia. Viktor must collect information on the Russian efforts to recruit African countries for Putin’s anti-western bloc. What will Viktor discover?

I had no dull moments reading The Holocaust Conspiracy. The suspenseful, fast-moving plot offered surprises and tension in every episode. I liked how Olena Vasylchenko developed the characters of the Russian oligarchs, with their flaws and virtues. I also enjoyed the romantic aspect, as it added both authenticity and respite from the tensions of Viktor’s spying assignments. The portrayal of the perils of religious fanaticism deserves special praise. The atmospheric African safari was a special treat. But most of all, I liked the ending because it tied up all the loose ends and was a true testimony to the international global security efforts. I liked every aspect of this brilliant book. This exhilarating read will appeal to espionage and romance fans. Readers interested in the history and politics of Ukraine and its standoff with Russia will also enjoy this book.
