The Human Process of Self-Evolution by J.M. Tessey explores the ongoing transformational change of human evolution and how Homo sapiens diverged from mammals long ago. In ten detailed chapters, Tessey differentiates between two behavioral systems: instinct and reason. Research is garnered from genetics, psychology, neuroscience, history and paleoanthropology. The development of the modern mind uses knowledge to modify behavior, which can alter our destiny. Further studies examine our similarities and differences with apes, brain anatomy, the dualist theory, the encephalization process, behavioral information systems and the self-mind relationship. Special attention is paid to the lengthy process of change that occurred over 6 million years. Humans can adapt instinctive behaviors to one that provides benefit by using intellect. That ability separates us from other animals who may become extinct. This self-control allows reason to play into Man’s overall survival.

This engaging book delves into the science of our own reality and the development of individuals manifested in a human collective consciousness. Every advancement of Man contributes to the long and winding road of cognitive evolution for the species. J.M. Tessey in The Human Process of Self-Evolution explores the origins of Man in a provocative book aimed for the layperson or science expert. His easily understood theories are supported by scientific research and extensive study into the mind. I found this work to be both enlightening and informative as to the complexities of the brain and the advances in modern science concerning the study of cognitive theory. Anyone curious about our past, present and future as a collective species will enjoy this book.

The Human Process of Self-Evolution by J.M. Tessey explores what we suspect: there is a Master Plan for us out there and the Master Plan embraces all fields of our development. It delves into our appearance in the world and how the dictatorship of the genes and the domination of instinctive conduct have ceased. Earth has been awaiting man's arrival so she could show him the marvels and encourage him to take them and make them bigger and better. Freedom for man is the new era, but we can only keep that freedom by being responsible and keeping our efforts positive.

I have a lot of questions after reading this book and yet they are the kind of questions I should be asking myself. I have not read a whole lot of self help books, but this one hit several chords with me right now as I am working through a divorce. We as humans are in control of the evolution of our own self realization and it is up to us to find a path of learning that will help us to become the best we can be. I think to get the most from this book I need to read it again, but I don't mind that because it is a good book. J.M. Tessey brings up a lot of points and writes them very well. This is a book that you have to go into with an open mind and a willingness to explore new things within yourself and even your fellow man. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to do some self exploration and who is willing to spend time understanding what is being said within these pages.

The Human Process of Self-Evolution by J.M. Tessey discusses what he calls the Behavioral Instinct System that helps drive the evolution of Homo sapiens and probably all the other species in the plant and animal kingdom. Tracing the origin of life from the beginning until the present, the book asserts that there is a cosmic plan that determines the destiny of the universe and all its inhabitants. After Cro-Magnon man survived the Ice Ages and Homo sapiens started to dominate the world, heredity and instinct ceased to be the only key to survival and success for humans. Human evolution is driven by our ability to think, exercise our free will, our subconscious, our genes and the Behavioral Instinct System. This means that humans can now really plan for a great future. There is a catch, however, and that is the danger that we may choose the wrong path.

Designed as a self-help book, The Human Process of Self-Evolution by J.M. Tessey is an enlightening read. There are also many things to learn from it, especially in the field of philosophy. And here lies the best attribute of The Human Process of Self-Evolution and it is the fact that, despite the enormity of its subject matter, it can be easily understood by general readers. Author J.M. Tessey obviously has a good grasp of what he is talking about and the gift to share it with his readers. The idea that the progression of evolution involves the capacity of any living thing to learn, make a record of this knowledge, and the means to transmit it makes a lot of sense. This is a must-read for all humans living in this universe so that perhaps our species is able to choose the right path.

The Human Process of Self-Evolution by J.M. Tessey is an informative book that discusses how being born humans exposes us to a lot of challenges and dangers. Based on the human faculty of reasoning, the first knowledge was recorded in our genes before the invention of record-keeping. The author tells readers about the important part of the process of evolution which is 'the ability of the living element to capture knowledge, record it, and transmit it.' The book also speaks about the two ways humans behave, - the reasoned and the instinctive way which can be contradictory and influence a person's behavior.

On the whole, it is a scientifically challenging book that answers a lot of questions regarding evolution. The similarity of behavior in all animal species is linked together and how this behavior works together in tandem beautifully without any kind of system is quite compelling to read. The author has put across something that does remain at the back of our minds, yet we have not actually bothered to find out more. Along with the topic of evolution, the author also brings in the origin of consciousness that explains the origin and appearance of thought. It is quite an engaging read with a lot of profound thoughts and facts that will challenge our thinking and vision. The Evolution of Neurons is another good topic that the author covers, which speaks of reasoning. On the whole, it is a book that challenges the reader.
