Storytelling comes in various forms from poetry to short stories, each possessing a beautiful display of expression and building connections. The Inspiring World of Ella Rose La Fleur by Lori Schneider MD with beautiful colorful illustrations by Owen Moloney is a collection of over thirty wonderful poems centered around the life of Ella Rose La Fleur. As children read each poem, they will be able to relate to the emotions, life, and experiences of Ella. Each child is unique and it is important to show them how special they are and to celebrate their differences, to give their perspective on how they view the world. Children will have fun with Ella as she takes them on a journey into her environment. As they learn about her, they may see themselves in some of the many scenes throughout the book. In reading this book children will see that Ella shares some of the same challenges as they do and can discover ways to not only deal with them but also build their confidence and self-esteem.
I enjoyed how Lori Schneider took so many parts of Ella’s life to create each poem. With the various parts of Ella’s life being displayed in The Inspiring World of Ella Rose La Fleur, children will learn that getting back to basics is essential for their cognitive abilities and development. The Arts and Science section of the book demonstrates that art, reciting words in a play, moving their bodies for dancing, or seeking to understand what the sky holds, stimulates a child’s brain by building their creativity and strengthening their imagination. Children can use this book in several ways, whether they are new at reading, sharing it with a friend, or at bedtime. Make sure that you add this book to your library. Highly recommended.
