In Brent Shores' book, The Jesus We Forgot, the author speaks to those who have found themselves frustrated with their Christian walk, longing to draw closer to the Lord. His insightful teaching opens familiar Scriptures in a new way. Brent Shores tells us that to change our hearts, we need to change our treasure; and when the Bible doesn't agree with my beliefs, perhaps I need to change my beliefs! He tells us that only when we come before the King with humility and openness can the Kingdom be revealed to us. He speaks of "Spiritual Dyslexia" where we see only what we want to see in His Word. Psalm 91, often claimed for God's protection, is revealed to read with meaning. The Jesus We Forgot: Knowing the God of the Word and Not Just the Word of God will draw you deeper into knowing the Savior and what He truly wants from us.
How many of us long to be closer to the Lord? This is a book that has depths one cannot read through quickly. This is an excellent work. Over the years I've read many "how-to" books: 10 steps to knowing Jesus; storming the courts of heaven; prayers and decrees to say, etc. All good books, but this book is by far a treasure and not one to hurry through. Brent Shores' insights are like finding the pearl of great price. A revelation for those truly seeking a closer, more intimate walk with our Lord. Readers will appreciate the author's thoughtful and well-written work, and in it find a way to back to The Jesus We Forgot.
