Wow! What a thrill ride I was on when I read The Knights of the Cold War and the Road to Bin Laden by Peter Shadowhawk. Politics, intrigue, dishonesty, betrayal, action and adventure; this book has all the makings of an epic read. And epic it certainly is. A doctor with a cure for AIDS, the CIA, a monster, and many, many more characters take you down twists and turns you’d never expect. The novel is expansive, stretching over decades, not days, weeks or months, and touches on many notorious events of the day.
Author Peter Shadowhawk’s new work kept me on the edge of my seat. The amazing scenarios he sets up, the descriptions of the inner workings of sometimes clandestine governmental agencies and operations, the details of actual historical events, all of these lead me to believe that he has some personal knowledge, some personal experiences in espionage. The Knights of the Cold War and the Road to Bin Laden is a book that would appeal to anyone looking for a spy thriller, an action/adventure romp, or just an exciting read. The beginning gets a little congested with dates, characters and events, but it’s well worth the effort for the rest of the book. And the backstory is sorely needed with this complex, suspenseful story line. In all, Peter Shadowhawk’s debut novel is a fun and exciting read, and one that I’m happy to recommend. I see that the author intends to make this book into a series, and I, for one, will be watching out for the next installment.
