The LoveBugs Welcome Party by Joanne Grady is a whimsical story revolving around family and love. The sun wakes up and says hello to the LoveBugs, except Ashlynne who is still sleeping. Ashlynne wants to take the new BabyBug home, but MommyBug says it is not yet their turn. Ashlynne takes her crayons and goes to color. She goes in search of a leaf to color and hears Olivia saying that there is a party to welcome the new baby LoveBug. All the young bugs go to join the LoveBugs at the Big Rock. The new BabyBug, Simon, is welcomed by all. Ashlynne hears a funny sound and sees another BabyBug, but it turns out to be a Baby Honeybee. Now which LoveBug will take care of a bee? How will the LoveBugs handle the surprise?
It is a wonderful story of family, friendship, and community living. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they give a good movement to the story and breathe life into the scenes and characters. It is a good story for read aloud sessions in classrooms and the magical vibe makes it a captivating story. Parents can use it for bedtime story-telling to help children understand about family, community living, friendship, and love. Ashlynne’s character is adorable and children will love her and her personality. It is endearing to see the way she loves Bailey Bee and the way she takes care of the baby Honeybee. This delightful story with a charming message will definitely touch the hearts of readers.
