Two teenage boys fight to stay alive in the scintillating suspense novella, The Mill Trap by P.D. Platt. The mill that supported a large community has closed and the town is dying out. Fortunately, the Olympic size swimming pool is still available to the residents who stayed behind. With little else left, it gives them something to do during the hot months. On their way to the pool, Connor and Landon happen upon a gang of local thugs. Witnessing a gruesome crime, Connor and Landon try to back out without drawing attention to themselves. Unfortunately, the leader spies them and sends his accomplices after them. Connor and Landon are now in a race against death. Can the two young boys outwit the older, streetwise pursuers? Will they survive?
The Mill Trap by P.D. Platt may be a short story, but every paragraph is an action-packed adventure. It is an electrifying narrative that moves along at a quick pace. Brimming with excitement and danger, the riveting story meets all the criteria of a flawless novel. The hair-raising plot captures the imagination at the start and culminates in a heart-stopping conclusion. The creepy setting and the depraved antagonists aptly set the mood for the scenes of terror that follow. I don't think I breathed until I reached the end of the book. The perilous circumstances the adolescent protagonists confront, the vulnerability of their age and inexperience kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the ax to fall. This scintillating novella will thrill those who enjoy death-defying adventures.
