Jules Kuroda’s The N8 Self presents a model of human identity centered on an innate energy source encompassing areas like the conscience, intuition, and interconnectedness. Drawing on philosophical, psychological, and spiritual traditions, Kuroda distinguishes the N8 Self from the mind, heart, and body, and outlines eight key traits: character, contribution, connection, creativity, gratitude, generosity, grace, and courage. She examines how these qualities influence behavior, decision-making, and well-being, emphasizing alignment between internal values and external actions. Using personal experiences and coaching examples, Kuroda describes challenges such as misjudgment, fear of vulnerability, and suppressed creativity. She contrasts societal emphasis on image with the N8 Self’s focus on integrity and purpose. The book connects healing, meaning, and self-direction to intentional practices rooted in self-awareness, emotional presence, and internal guidance.
Reading The N8 Self by Jules Kuroda felt like sitting down with a friend who sees the best in you and knows how to bring it forward. Kuroda is an amazing source of inspiration, and it’s unmistakable that she writes from experience and with real conviction. Her conversational tone makes even the more complicated ideas feel accessible, and the practical structure she offers is something you can actually use. What stood out most to me was when she discusses connection, not just as a concept but as something that ranges from a moment of shared attention to a lasting sense of presence. Her point about how hard presence is to maintain today really hit home, and her examples were the kind you remember. Kuroda's N8 Self isn’t just theory; it’s a way of life that is delivered with belief, kindness, and purpose. You can feel that Kuroda genuinely wants you to succeed, and that makes all the difference in the world. Very highly recommended.
