Bryan Devore’s The Paris Protection is a stimulating, action-packed account of the lengths the US Secret Service takes to protect the president. President Abigail Clarke is in Paris on a two-day planned visit. Special Agent in charge John Alexander heads up the President’s Protection Detail. The President is surrounded by Secret Service agents at all times, hundreds of men and women make up her protection team. As the night watch takes duty, snow begins to fall, whispering all is well. Christmas cheer is the air as shoppers walk the streets. Although on high alert, the PPD is unaware of the vicious terrorist attack that awaits them. Two lost and broken men, estranged from their former lives, find cause again in a sadistic bold visionary, Dominik Kalmar. Tied together by mutual hatred, Maximilian Wolff and Kazim Aslan life’s mission becomes the assassination of the President of the United States. Together, they lead a small army on a “decapitation strike” against the President; their goal is to cripple the US and change the course of history.

The Paris Protection is an outstanding piece of fiction. Superbly written, Bryan Devore's heart-pounding wild ride is propelled by faster than fast action. Accelerant is poured out on every page, beginning with an engaging opening sequence. The chapters are short, creating a pulsating adrenaline rush. The entire novel’s action encapsulates two hours of time. Penning panoramic views, Devore creates the setting of Paris with architectural relevance, placing the reader in the midst of the “City of Lights.” The characterization is exceptional. Devore gives understanding and reason to both the protagonists' and antagonists' actions. By revealing the personal history of the main characters, Devore creates a sharp, two-edged sword of conflict. Furthermore, Wolff’s idolization of the military tactics and strategies of Hannibal is a brilliant plot device. The Paris Protection has an ingenious plot, an equally beautiful and horrific setting, exhilarating action, dynamic characters and satisfying conclusion. Well done, Mr. Devore!

Bryan Devore's novel The Paris Protection tells a story of a revolutionary and Secret Service agents. Maximilian, a leader of a group of rebels, is angry at the United States for being corrupt. According to him, the USA sat and watched other nations crumble while they became rich, fat, and wealthy. In order to change that, he is going to kill the president, but not without any challenges...

I like this novel because it presents both sides and perspectives to an overarching plot and event, ultimately building an ironic piece of writing. In fact, the atmosphere amongst the agents seem almost casual. While Maximilian is plotting to murder the president of the United States, the Secret Service (at first) doesn't seem to know of his plans. The author even switches between scenes/perspectives, allowing the reader to keep track of both at the same time. This is a great way to portray the story because it gives me different points of view and perspectives, allowing me to tap into the heads of two sides of the story.

While the plot is interesting and very suspenseful, the characters are very well rounded and dynamic. Each character, from Maximilian to Rebecca, all have different personalities and character traits. Maximilian is very influential, serious, and passionate while Rebecca is playful, strong willed, and hard working. No two characters are the same which keeps a very dynamic story. The characters are also very relatable: their thought processes and decision making processes all reflect those of people in the real world and is very natural.

Fantastic! Thrilling! Exciting! I’m not sure if I can come up with more superlatives to describe Brian Devore’s new book, The Paris Protection, but if I could, I would certainly use them. Author Devore presents us with a story that strikes fear into the heart of many loyal Americans, the attempted killing of our president. When President Abigail Clarke is in Paris to attend a meeting of world leaders, a bold attempt is made on her life. Members of her security detail lose their lives, and Secret Service agents Rebecca Reid and David Stone are on a mission to ensure that the president remains safe. When the secretive attackers make it clear that they won’t stop until they’ve dealt a vicious blow to America, the pressure is on. In this scenario, protecting the President equals protecting the country, and the stakes have never been higher.

I loved this book. Loved it! Author Brian Devore has done a stellar job in writing a fast paced thrill ride of a read that will keep his readers turning the pages from start to finish. In fact, the only piece of advice I have for readers, besides recommending that they absolutely must pick up this book as soon as possible, would be to set aside enough time to read it in its entirety. They simply will not want to set it down! The Paris Protection is a book that would be enjoyed by any reader who loves action, adventure, thrillers or just a plain great work of fiction. I highly recommend this book. I have already placed author Brian Devore on my list of must-read authors, and after reading The Paris Protection I am confident that you will as well!

The Paris Protection by Bryan Devore is about criminal conspiracies against the American nation when the President is in Europe. President Abigail Clarke is in idyllically beautiful and charming Paris. She is there to attend an important summit. Everything was fine until someone makes an attempt on the president's life. Now, Agents David Stone and Rebecca Reid of the Secret Service are given the task of keeping the president safe and find out who is behind the attacks. But this is a battle they never anticipated. The attacks keep on coming, as if the attackers have nothing to lose. Now the Secret Service agents must protect the president with everything they have. They must be diligent. But can they? With the enemy so strong, will they even stand a chance?

When I read The Paris protection by Bryan Devore, I fell in love with the way he writes. He has a gift when it comes to storytelling. If you have read any of his works, you will understand where I'm coming from. There is a certain charm in the way he writes. It is almost quirky, but still very entertaining. The Paris Protection was, without a doubt, a great novel to read. I was immersed in the novel from the get go. The stylistic aspects of the novel were spot on and the characters were developed beautifully. I especially liked Agent Reid, she had spunk and she was just as good as any agent in the field. Five stars!

Bryan Devore’s novel, The Paris Protection, is a page-turner that simply cannot be put down. The story pits two strong, intelligent groups against each other – the Secret Service agents who protect America’s first female President, and the terrorists whose only goal is to assassinate her. The terrorists are led by a fearless madman who bases all his militaristic strategies on the methods utilized by the wily Hannibal Barca, the Punic Carthaginian known for fighting the mighty Roman Empire. The violent entanglement begins in a luxurious Paris hotel and eventually proceeds through Paris’ elaborate underground tunnel system. Interspersed between these conflicts are interesting character profiles, providing explanations to each main character’s psychological makeup. One group’s central focus is protection, while the other group’s goal is only destruction.

The Paris Protection by Bryan Devore is written in a style that is easy to follow and comprehend. Devore describes beautiful, stately scenes, as well as powerful, brutal scenes that were easy to picture in my mind. Having a determined female President, along with a brilliant and tenacious female protector, was certainly refreshing. Because all his main characters are so well-developed, I found myself caring for the “good guys” and responding with a deeper understanding of how terrorists are created. I had to wish for a happy ending for the Secret Service and the President – and a failed attempt for the terrorists. I will not provide the spoiler, but I do encourage you to read this book and find out for yourself how this complicated campaign played out!
