The Personal Management Handbook, written by Carl M. Powe, is written for anyone who feels as if they are not succeeding and accomplishing his or her goals, although it seems as if everything possible is being done. Powe stresses in the beginning of his book that a person never stops learning; and in order to achieve things in life, one must always be learning and growing. This book is designed and written to help each person become successful. it is divided into several chapters which are further broken down into sections, making it a resource that can be easily used as the sections are well defined.

There are chapters covering how one should dress and how their appearance should be in regards to the type of work being done, how to manage time, how to study, how to communicate with others in various ways, how to conduct meetings, and the importance of morality and physical fitness, as well as other topics. Powe shared research that he has done from a variety of sources and also shares his personal experience. Each chapter is summarized by Powe, which pulls everything together and highlights the chapter.

I felt a little overwhelmed at first as this is a relatively thick book filled with so much information; however once I began reading I realized that it really was not what I first thought. This book is filled with a huge amount of information, but it is shared in such a way that it is easily understood and can be read in bits and pieces. The chapters and sections are very well defined and this makes it so easy to pick up the book and just read about what you are seeking at that moment. There is a great list of references included at the end, which allows the reader to go more in-depth on a subject of his or her choosing.
