The Preachers in the Land of Uz: The Dorothy and Pete Story by Keith Peten centers on Dorothy Peal, a bright high‑school senior whose life is abruptly upended after a traumatic event. Her parents send her to stay with her aunt and uncle, hoping distance will help her heal, but Dorothy finds herself with more questions than answers. While she tries to keep her head down and simply get through each day, she’s pulled into a strange dream world—the Land of Uz—where echoes of Job’s story mingle with her own. There she meets a preacher, a shadow‑self, and a series of moments that push her to confront what righteousness, suffering, and restoration really mean.

I liked the way Keith Peten developed The Preachers in the Land of Uz: The Dorothy and Pete Story, especially the Oz-like representation of the Land of Uz scenes. The book blends real‑world pain with biblical imagery and even slips in a few playful nods to The Wiz along the way. Dorothy's dream land has a vivid, almost stage‑like quality that made me feel like I was inside a movie as I was reading. The spiritual themes come through clearly, and the story gently reminds the reader that God doesn’t step away from the people He loves when life gets hard. The heart of the book is in the right place, and the author's imaginative approach makes it an interesting read. Readers who enjoy faith‑based fiction with symbolic elements, especially those that blend creativity with heartfelt truth, will appreciate and connect with this book.
