Author Biography

J. Jaye Gill lives with her family in South Carolina. She enjoys family trips, relaxing on the beach, and winding down with a good book. During her down time, fast-paced suspense romance is often the favorite go to. The Promise of Justice: A Love Story by J. Jaye Gill is a compelling contemporary romance about forgiveness and justice. This engrossing drama centers on Regina, who endured a terrible crime but kept it secret from everyone, even her loved ones, for seven years. She decides to leave town with no regrets, but her conscience won't let her live a comfortable life. She realizes that she has to deal with her past. But that is easier said than done, as Regina soon finds out. When her wounds are opened again, she deals with the fallout that is almost as bad as the pain that caused it all. The other major character is Justice McCallahan, who tries to recover from a broken engagement. When he meets Regina, he faces issues he'd rather leave buried.

There are some surprises along the way in this absorbing story. You will fall in love with these imperfect but all too human characters, and you may find yourself in them somewhere or in people you know in your own life. This drama is for those who love romance with dark shadows. The plot is well-developed, the pace steady and even, and you want to know how this story ends. The story can be emotional and will pull you in from the first few pages. The unexpected also keeps you invested. If you're into intense reads that satisfy you, ride with The Promise of Justice by J. Jaye Gill.

Regina Wells has been running from her father, her demons, and her growing list of broken engagements for ages. But try as she might, she can’t outrun the one thing she desperately needs to escape from—the event that happened to her seven years ago. It takes another failed engagement for her to stop running and return to Shadow Falls to face her demons and a broken-hearted ex-fiancé once and for all. Justice McCallahan has felt like his heart has been frozen for the past seven years. Although he is now engaged to the beautiful Desiree, he feels like he is moving through life on autopilot, until he stumbles upon the woman responsible for his cold heart. Follow Regina and Justice to find out if they have a chance at happily ever after in The Promise of Justice by J. Jaye Gill.

I love the title; it’s a play on Justice’s name and an important theme in the book. I love a good pun, so I appreciated the cleverness of the title. I must commend J. Jaye Gill on a brilliant depiction of Regina’s well-layered character. At first glance, it seemed Regina was weak, insensitive, and flighty, but as I read further, I understood her better and empathized with her because of the hand she’d been dealt. I liked that it wasn’t immediately obvious who Regina would end up with; I could easily see her with either Justice or Nathan, especially considering the latter’s relationship with her daughter Camille. I enjoyed Justice as a character. I laughed while reading how he approached his impending engagement with Desiree as one headed to the guillotine. The Promise of Justice has equal parts romance, intrigue, thrills, and second chances that make it a worthy read.
