The Real You (Only You Book 1) by RM Alexander is a romantic suspense novel about the deadly consequences of true love. Paige Reed goes to Detroit and meets Kellen, the brother of the famous actor, Grey Richards. The two immediately form a friendship that grows into a budding romance and Paige ends up in Los Angeles to be with Kellen. But his family has some dark history to go with all of its fortune and fame, and Kellen desperately wants to keep Paige safe. This is turning out to be harder than he had ever imagined. Can Kellen protect Paige from everything out there conspiring against them, even the truth? Because it seems like the whole world is stacked against any chance the two could have for true love.
The Real You is an interesting concept because it is all about expectations and wearing masks, and falling in love with the idea of someone versus the actual person. RM Alexander does a good job of raising these difficult and hard to answer questions, and then does a decent job of trying to answer those questions. I liked the direction the story took and found it unique and very refreshing. It was a very interesting take on a romantic suspense plot and that was also appreciated. There were a lot of twists and turns in this romance as well, which kept me guessing. There was never a dull moment within this story. Not ever.
