A news editor's deductive and investigative skills are tested in the gruesome and thrilling mystery novel, The Redhead is Dead (The First Book in the Redhead Detective Series) by Chris Ingram and Donna Rheaume. Body pieces are being packed in crates and discovered around the city of Boston, and the police force is working to crack the case and apprehend the perpetrators. Donna Rand is the News Assignment Editor for a Boston television station, and her team is currently following the high profile story of the grisly serial murders. Unexpectedly, Donna's involvement becomes more up close and personal when she is awakened in the middle of the night by loud stomping noises over her head. Complaining to her upstairs neighbor, though a hair-raising experience, gives Donna a lead in the packing-crate case. Because of her harrowing encounter, their station has a leading edge over the competing TV stations. Together, Donna and her station's news team work around the clock to catch the killer in action and get the story. Can they find answers before another victim is found?
In the captivating sleuth mystery, The Redhead is Dead (The First Book in the Redhead Detective Series) by Chris Ingram and Donna Rheaume, an exciting series begins. This first book has an intriguing mystery for the main character to solve that is the rudimentary beginnings of her investigative career. Donna is a loyal and committed protagonist with a keen mind and an indomitable spirit. I love the addition of her best friend and neighbor, Charles; he is charming, lovable and an invaluable sounding board and sidekick, and I hope to see more of him. With engaging characters and a compelling plot, this thrilling mystery novel leaves an excellent opening for sequels, and I am looking forward to the next installment. Because of some of the mild sex scenes, this is more suitable for young adults on up.
