The Retire Sooner Method: The 5 Secrets Behind America’s Happiest (and Unhappiest) Retirees by Wes Moss is a must-read for everyone seeking financial freedom. First on the list of secrets is the need to reach a realistic financial level that allows you to live free of money-related anxiety. Secret number two is about understanding that purpose is not found but rather built on a base of core pursuits. The third secret challenges you to develop genuine connections and integrate your community into your hobbies. Secret number four is a call to write down your financial plan to create a clear map for reaching your goals. The final secret urges you to S.W.A.N., that is, sleep well at night. This book goes into great detail about how to put all these secrets into practice.
I am glad that I read The Retire Sooner Method. Wes Moss provides realistic, achievable advice on how to retire early, and more importantly, how to retire happy. I like that his writing tone is very conversational. All the financial information about investing was explained in clear, easy-to-understand language. I especially like that Moss relied heavily on research data and provided graphics to highlight important figures. Of note, the data is derived from studies done in the United States. However, I believe that all the findings and advice apply to a global audience. After reading Moss’s work, I was greatly motivated to plan my retirement sooner. It was inspiring to read testimonials about how others have achieved financial freedom and retired happily. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
