The Road To London by Adriano Bulla is the story of a troubled soul trapped in a life he could not wait to escape, but somehow just could not. From very young at grade school, all through the teenage years and beyond, the narrator struggled with several issues that shaped his lifestyle or were the result of the inability to live the life he was truly meant to live. From forming his own gang while just in grade school, to struggling with sexuality, through teenage mischief and vices, this is the story of a boy trying to find himself. Each chapter gives a glance into yet another significant part of his life and these portions all come together brilliantly to give you a deeply compelling read.
The Road To London by Adriano Bulla is a truly unique read, a kind of next-level work of literature, and readers who appreciate this style of writing will have a gratifying reading experience. There is true depth in the story, in the characters, and in the way it is all put together. The writing style dances between poetic and raw, and the tone immediately draws you into the story and begs you to keep reading. The language walks a very thin line between witty and coarse, but the author knew just how far to push it so it remained raw without going completely overboard. Adriano Bulla displays such an amazing gift with language and style. The main character might seem a little crude, but once you get inside his head and inside his thoughts, you will understand how the persona was built and get to relate to and connect with him.
