The Roses of Port Townsend is a supernatural mystery by Ethel Steinmetz Marmont. Mandy Rose and her two sons, Max and Oscar, move to Port Townsend. She hopes for a better life after losing her job and the disappearance of her husband, Richard "Rick" Rose. They adore "Lil Red," their new home, but are wary of the oddities and puzzling instructions that came with it. An encounter with trolls convinces the family of the town's eeriness, as well as bizarre tales from the locals. Unbeknownst to them, Rick, a cartographer and software engineer with Nova Technology, went into hiding with sensitive military contract data. It could have devastating effects in the wrong hands. He befriends Pirate Benny Pease, who knows the travel portals. Pease is also searching for his daughter, who was abducted by Von Claus over a century ago.
I can only suggest that you get comfortable when reading The Roses of Port Townsend. It's a thrilling and mesmerizing story filled with surprises and some of the most unique twists I have seen. The author's writing is hauntingly beautiful and emotional, entwining the gorgeous local scenery and fascinating mysteries of Port Townsend. The story includes magic, myths, science, and a few gardening tips to keep readers entertained and pensive. Characters are distinct, and everyone contributes significantly to the never-ending drama. I like gardening and hope the tomato and herbs I planted will bear well, like the roses. Ethel Steinmetz Marmont's book, The Roses of Port Townsend, should be included on your book list.
