The Seekers: Hilo Dome by Jack Bartley is an adventurous and suspenseful story with several excellent reasons to read it. The main antagonist is a volcano that is threatening to erupt. It is the driving force that pushes a group of men and women to search for a place to live. They must find a suitable living space with all the basics needed to survive. Finding a place is one thing; escaping the other dangers they encounter while on their mission is another. It is a trying time for all. Not everyone wishes to leave, and not everyone wishes to live with people they feel are their enemies. But Pele, the earthquake god, is angry. Will the people survive or perish in a devastating death?

The Seekers: Hilo Dome by Jack Bartley is a brilliant, nail-biting adventure that is full of action. It is one of the rare gems that take place on the water, where explorers must navigate uncharted territory to survive. The real draw? The story is set in the future, well beyond 2025. The author effectively uses the topics of genetics, sacrifice, and skeletons in a riveting setting. For me, the ability to “thalk” was fantastic and utterly fascinating. It was like superhumans realistically using their unique ability. The explanations and descriptions of the volcano’s movements were smartly crafted to increase the tension at the end. The Seekers is a must-read. It will appeal to anyone who enjoys an adventure full of suspense, thrills, and the awe of discovery.
