The Skin Collector was written by author Jeffery Deaver and read by Edoardo Bellerini. We first met Lincoln Rhyme in The Bone Collector. There is a new killer on the loose and there seems to be a connection between him and the Bone Collector. The killer stalks the basements and underground passageways of New York City. His method of murder: a tattoo gun loaded with poison. Both Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are working the case. Once again we have Lincoln Rhyme at his best. He solves crimes from what seems like the most insignificant details.
The Skin Collector is a fabulous thriller that brings back my favorite characters, Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs. The plot is entertaining and well developed. The author has included twists and turns that make this a thrilling read. In The Skin Collector, we see a different side of Lincoln Rhyme. He has developed more of a sense of humor and a bit of a softer side. The romance between Rhyme and Sachs has advanced. The one part of the story that I found unsatisfying was toward the end where a former villain and Rhyme are having a discussion on the phone. It felt contrived. But I can overlook that since the rest of the novel was so entertaining. The Skin Collector has all the right elements to make an exciting read; it is fast paced, with surprises around every corner, a touch of romance between Rhyme and Sachs, excellent writing, a great plot, and a great reader.
