The Travels Of Timothy Turtle: A Tale of Togetherness (Tiny Epic Adventures) by Bill Calhoun is the cheerful story of Timothy the turtle. Timothy gets separated from his family on the day of their beach picnic. He gets picked up by a boy on the beach who thinks Timothy is a piece of rock. Though Timothy escapes, he realizes that he has traveled a long way from home. He meets many challenges on his way back home, which makes him understand the value of true friends and friendship. Timothy's amazing adventures will put smiles on the faces of young readers.
The book speaks about the adventures Timothy has on his way back home and the interesting characters whom he meets on the way. 'I met some friends along the way. One hopped, one burrowed, and one did fly.' These lines will sum up the kind of friends who helped on his way back home. The rabbit, the owl, the mole, the beaver, and the Melody Bird lend great support to Timothy in helping him find his family. The book speaks about friends and their importance in Timothy's life of.
The story is simple but the concept of friendship is beautifully expressed. The illustrations are lovely and cheerful. They add to the visual appeal of the story and bring life to all the amazing characters in this story. It is a perfect story that can be used for read-aloud sessions in classrooms.
