The Valet by Bonnie Traymore is about Johnny, a struggling valet driver who has dreams of moving out of Honolulu. Johnny has a shady side hustle with his girlfriend and uses his position at work to get information about potential victims. Johnny parked Derek Anderson's Roadster and tried to get all the info he could about Derek. Tina, who works with Johnny, shows him a news report of a woman who was murdered, and he recognizes her as the woman who was with Derek. Johnny realizes he has to keep the information to himself. Upon discovering Johnny’s fingerprints at Derek's home, he becomes a person of interest in the investigation. Tina disappears one day, and Johnny is afraid that she is the killer’s next victim. Johnny is determined to find out what happened to Tina and to catch the killer. This endangers Johnny’s life, and he ends up with more than he bargained for.

The plot in The Valet by Bonnie Traymore was fast-paced and kept my attention throughout. The action begins on the first page and never stops. I was hooked from the start and could not turn the pages fast enough. I had to know what would happen next. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was too afraid to put the book down, just in case I would miss something. The characters were authentic and relatable. Johnny was my favorite character; he appeared to be a trustworthy person, but was actually something else. The book is brilliantly written and engaging. The ending has a major twist that I did not expect or see coming. It was a huge surprise that completely knocked my feet out from under me.
