In The Wizard of Kharathad: Tales of Dogalas, the young author Matia ben Ephraim provides her readers with an engrossing and absolutely intriguing story of fantasy fiction that will have them reading way longer into the night than they had ever planned. Follow the story of Dogalas, an honorable young man from Kharathad, who is excited to begin his quest to be trained as a semi-wizard. He must travel from his farmstead home to the Wizard of the Tower to receive his training. But while Dogalas has long wondered about the practice of magic and is eager to begin his training, he has no idea of the adventures and dangers he is about to encounter on his journey, or what his real destiny is.

I loved The Wizard of Kharathad: Tales of Dogalas. Loved. It. How's that for a review? Well, it's truly how I felt about this book. It's hard to believe that this amazing story was written by such a young author, and it's obvious that this young woman has a lot to offer the literary world. Any reader who enjoys works of epic fantasy, think The Lord of the Rings here, should read this book as soon as possible. I think that this story would have a special appeal to young adult readers, but adults would enjoy it immensely as well. I highly recommend The Wizard of Kharathad: Tales of Dogalas, and will definitely be keeping my eyes out for more from the incredibly talented author Matia ben Ephraim. With talent like hers, it's unlikely that she will remain undiscovered for long!

The Wizard of Kharathad by Matia ben Ephraim takes the reader on an adventure that can by all rights be called epic (take note authors who call their 200-page novel "epic"). The reader will follow Dogalas, a semizard, on his travels to become a proper wizard. Little did he know what he'd get himself into when he became a wizard's apprentice, and then is sent out into the world a lot sooner than the average semizard. Things become quite adventurous when he runs into a runaway elf boy, has to save the boy's parents, and goes on a journey to find out who his parents really are. There are dragons (you'll have to find out for yourself whether they're friendly or not), mischievous creatures, and of course one or the other dark character that is up to no good!

The Wizard of Kharathad by Matia ben Ephraim is like a gem with many different facets. It's not a novel for people who like fast-paced action, overdone romance, or flat characters (you'll find neither here). You will need a lot of time to read it. Some parts you might find too long, others you might find too short - but no writer can ever get it 100% right for every single reader. I found that most of the time I enjoyed the pace of the plot. It was a relaxing read, yet also exciting in parts. To me, a wonderful combination, and the kind of book you want to sit under a tree with on a lovely day. It is not a perfect book, but considering the age of Matia ben Ephraim, you don't expect perfect. I am sure there's a lot of good still to come from this author! Keep your eyes open!

In an epic new read by a young and obviously talented new author, Matia ben Ephraim, The Wizard of Kharathad is a book that will suck young readers in almost from the very first pages. Follow the story of a special young man, Dogalas, as he finds himself on a journey to become a 'semi wizard.' He is on the way from his town of Kharathad, where he was raised on a farm, to find the Wise Wizard of the Tower where he hopes to get the training he needs. But he has no idea of the danger he will face, or what his true destiny really is. If you want to find out, you'll need to dig into this fantastic read as soon as you possibly can!

I very much enjoyed The Wizard of Kharathad. Author Matia ben Ephraim has done a great job in creating characters that her readers will relate to, connect with and care about. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. Her world creation abilities are simply second to none, and coming from such a young voice in the genre of fantasy, this is really saying a lot. Any reader, and especially young adult readers, who enjoy a great work of fantasy, should absolutely give this book a chance. I am pleased to highly recommend The Wizard of Kharathad, and hope that author Matia ben Ephraim is already hard at work on her next book. If it's anything like this one, it will absolutely be worth the read.
