In the exciting Kauai-based murder mystery, Tidal Wave (Aloha Lagoon Mysteries Book 17) by Beth Prentice, a bride investigates the murder of her wedding caterer. Disguising their wedding as an engagement party seems like a great idea for Samantha and Casey. But Samantha’s mother-in-law, who is on vacation in Aloha Lagoon with her family, does not seem excited at the idea of their engagement let alone a wedding. Still, Samantha and Casey are excited about their big day. Moments before they are pronounced husband and wife, their caterer is found dead on their wedding cake. With her mother-in-law more anxious than ever about her son’s relationship with his fiancée, Samantha sets out to prove that their wedding is not cursed. As she gets closer to the truth, Samantha uncovers shocking secrets that put her life in danger.
Rich with humor and thrilling surprises, Tidal Wave creates a fascinating web of questions and revelations, and a mystery that incriminates powerful, dangerous forces. I loved that the story is told from Samantha’s funny point of view. Character backgrounds are intricately woven together as Samantha and her friend transform into the town’s sleuths and uncover the murder victim’s complex past. The story is also filled with tension and suspense at every turn as Samantha rushes to solve the mystery and return to wedding planning. Gripping on every page, Tidal Wave by Beth Prentice is an entertaining murder mystery told through compelling characters. Fans of the genre will love it for its light-hearted scenes and its many captivating twists.
