Time and Space by Shireen Jeejeebhoy tells the story of Time, a forty-year-old woman living an ordinary life in Toronto. One day, she is abducted by youths from the future, forever altering her destiny as she knows it. Carried across centuries, Time finds herself trapped in ominous societies where women are robbed of their full autonomy. Class divisions govern daily life, and survival requires either resistance or compliance. At every step of the way, our determined heroine meets strangers who either attempt to take advantage of her vulnerable situation or show her kindness. As Time faces these oppressive conditions, she is encouraged to develop fearlessness and resilience. Bold and highly satirical, this provocative book reveals just how far a person is willing to go to regain their life, especially when every choice poses a threat to their very existence.

Shireen Jeejeebhoy's Time and Space stands out for its daring blend of sci-fi and social commentary. Jeejeebhoy's writing is sharp and sometimes edgy, but wholly engaging. This novel will remind readers of traditional dystopian classics, while keeping its own unique modern voice. The writing glides fluidly between tense, fast-paced moments and more deliberate, profound ones. For this reason, readers will discover excitement and the freedom to process what is unfolding in each mesmerizing chapter. The characters are fascinating and nuanced. Time begins a riveting journey into the unknown, but her growth shows tremendous potential. She shows us how resilience and learning can spark necessary change across history and different timelines. I marveled at the way supporting figures actually expose the various sides of power, compassion, and rebellion. The world-building is brought to life by thought-provoking conflict and ways in which people wield control. Readers who appreciate intense novels with rich world-building and feminist themes will enjoy this timeless tale.

Time and Space is a dystopian sci-fi thriller by Shireen Jeejeebhoy. On the day before her fortieth birthday, Time suddenly finds herself abducted by three strangers from the future who take her to the year 3011 -- a place and era where women have lost all autonomy and their only role in society is to be subservient to men. After being scolded by their professor for being careless, the three boys soon dump Time in 2411 in Toronto. This era is bad for everyone, except for those who belong to the Wealth. After witnessing brutal class divides and the genuine lack of humanity of this era, Time must learn to survive and unexpectedly finds help among a group of strangers who might be her only chance to get back home.

Author Shireen Jeejeebhoy blends an entertaining mix of satire, action, and time travel adventure to deliver an absorbing thriller that you simply can't put down. Time and Space is a sci-fi thriller unlike any other I have read. The engrossing narrative explores a range of contemporary social issues, including sexism, classism, and inequality. The plot is completely unpredictable. You never know what's going to happen next, and it is this sense of mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering if your favorite characters will have a happy conclusion to their story arcs. Time is easy to like and root for. Among the secondary characters, I found Hope and Space the most interesting among the bunch. I also enjoyed the ending and felt it tied up all the plot threads with a neat bow. Recommended to readers of time travel adventure tales.

Time, an English Major working as an admin assistant in Toronto, was turning forty and could not wait for the big birthday lunch her friends had planned for her. However, as she walks to work, part of her daily morning routine, her life is completely changed. She is abducted by three young men, who she later learns are university students from a future more than a millennium away. Their timeline of 3011 is a technologically advanced, male-dominated society where women are seen as mere objects and denied knowledge, among other rights. As soon as they arrive with Time, they are forced to get rid of her, since their exploit was against the law. They take her to 2411, a timeline of hardship. Before leaving 3011, a girl had pleaded with Time to rescue them, arming her with tech secrets from their future. Can Time save the generation of girls in 3011? Will she find her way back to her timeline? Find out in Shireen Jeejeebhoy’s Time and Space.

Teasing the idea of a male-dominated and technologically advanced future, Jeejeebhoy weaves an intriguing plot featuring a fascinating, dynamic cast. The subtle tone accompanying the narrative kept me guessing what was coming next, keeping me turning page after page. The vivid depictions breathed life into the scenes, capturing their mood and setting. The author uses lively dialogue, alongside an introspective voice, to convey the cast’s emotions. Juxtaposing their complex traits allowed me to connect with them and relate to their conflicts. Time is a nobody in her own era, an admin assistant with no special skills or aspirations, and content with her position in life. But if she is ever going to get home, she must face her fears, lest she ends up like the other abductees dumped in 2411. Lovers of sci-fi and time travel novels blended with dystopia, adventure, and thrills will find Shireen Jeejeebhoy’s Time and Space an enthralling read.

Time and Space by Shireen Jeejeebhoy is an incredible time travel story with an equally incredible protagonist and a solid storyline. Time was turning forty when her ordinary morning routine was shattered -- she was abducted by three university students from the future. They pull her into a glowing cube and deliver her to their technologically advanced world, where women are stripped of autonomy and forced into cosmetic perfection. Their professor, furious at the boys’ reckless interference, orders them to abandon her in “The Nasty Time.” That particular period is the year 2411, a bleak era empty of equality, freedom, and human connection. Stranded, Time finds herself with only bits of guidance from an unexpected ally and must decide whether she can summon the knowledge and courage needed to survive, and possibly reclaim her own destiny.

Author Shireen Jeejeebhoy did a fantastic job of creating an incredible story about the protagonist, Time, and her journey of survival! It was refreshing and entertaining. A true adventure story with a relatable protagonist, the plot features a fast-paced narrative, intense action, and brilliant characters that had me hooked on the novel. Time is a very relatable character. She is not a chosen hero but an ordinary person thrust into an extraordinary situation, and she thrives in it. The world-building is smooth. The author creates a chillingly realistic future where societal progress has regressed. There is not a single dull moment in the story, and each new chapter adds to the excitement for readers. Time and Space is a bold, entertaining, and character-driven story that sci-fi and time travel fans will enjoy!

Time and Space by Shireen Jeejeebhoy is an intriguing sci-fi narrative that pulls readers into a world where the extraordinary and the familiar converge. Time, the female protagonist, is an administrative assistant from modern-day Toronto who is suddenly ripped from her regular lifestyle by university teens from the distant future. Throughout her journey, she encounters societies where women are controlled and denied freedom and knowledge. In each distinct era, Time must navigate harsh rules, uncover hidden alliances, and confront systems designed to break her dauntless spirit. Her adventure pairs cruelty with empathy, and inner strength emerges from the most unlikely places. In the end, will Time recover her freedom and identity? Read this riveting story to find out.

Time and Space captivates with its fully realized depiction of Toronto and even a future where technology and society are tightly interwoven. The book combines dramatic suspense, clever social critique, and fascinating science fiction ideas without alienating readers who are new to the genre. From charged curtains to nutrition printers, every occurrence in this novel reinforces the stakes of control and inequality. Shireen Jeejeebhoy uses inventive gadgetry and intricate social rankings to create a world that feels both strange and real. It reminds me of the complex world-building in Margaret Atwood’s dystopias, but with a distinct technological twist. Overall, Time’s character transformation—from a hesitant observer to a brave agent of change—illustrates how courage and knowledge empower people who are dictated by oppressive forces. Fans of thoughtful dystopian fiction and immersive speculative worlds will enjoy reading this book. I highly recommend it.
