TimeWorm by Jimmy Adams and Brenda Heller is an exciting meld of time travel, science fiction, and adventure with historical undertones. It begins in a future time that has evolved to where people cohabit with robots. Seventeen-year-old Theo is visiting his father's science lab when his father's colleague, a fellow scientist, escapes through a time machine, determined to rewrite history. Feeling trapped, Theo and his robotic dog are left with no other choice but to enter the same time machine which thrusts them into Nazi Germany. It is a time when anti-Semitism is at its peak and Theo meets a beautiful girl who has lost her parents to the evil regime. Stealing a book filled with time jumping formulas, the teenagers are set to rewrite history. But are they aware of the consequences?
TimeWorm is a compelling book in a series that takes up the battle between good and evil and presents a young and energetic protagonist in a journey to save humanity from the inhumanity of a few. Jimmy Adams and Brenda Heller keep it real, inventing characters that are rock-solid and that readers can easily relate to. Theo's journey and transformation and the turn his life takes are interesting and the authors let readers understand how challenges can provoke growth and maturity in a young person. The atmospheric writing combines with a strong narrative voice and historic realism to enrich a story that already has strong plot points. This is a gorgeous read, packed with dizzying action and emotional intensity.
