To Bed or To Wed by Sandra Sookoo is about thirty-three-year-old Charlotte Darrington, who is firmly upon the shelf. To all appearances, she doesn't mind enjoying the attention of male suitors while never being serious about any. She believes men change for the worse after marriage, and because of that, she doesn't fully participate in finding a match. However, what she really wants is a man who will not let her boss him or lead him around. She doesn't know such a man exists. A cantankerous, temper-driven Marquess may be just what she needs. Nathan Brigham, Marquess of Ravenhurst allows the pain from his past to rule his life and wants to hand over his title to his nephew rather than live up to its responsibilities.
Sandra Sookoo painted Charlotte as a strong minded and bossy character. Very unique and sometimes a bother to her mother, she adds much excitement to the story. Her stubborn will is a bold and challenging match for Nathan. His inner demons make him darkly attractive, and the way the author portrayed his weaknesses made me sympathetic to him even though he is flawed. Nathan's tortured soul paired with Charlotte's need to soothe the savage beast and claim his heart makes a compelling read. I enjoyed the plot, and the characters were well drawn. The characters who schemed against Nathan and Charlotte added sufficient trouble, lent drama to further the story, and were good solid characters even though they weren't "likable." To Bed or To Wed is an entertaining read with romance, drama, conflict, and sexual tension.
