Author Biography

Anette DeMattio is the award-winning author of Too Strong For Your Own Good, a #1 Amazon Bestseller in Health Psychology exploring the hidden emotional cost of always being the strong one.

After surviving six cancer diagnoses and years of chronic pain that left her disabled and unable to work, Anette began exploring the connection between survival, stress, identity and the ways people disconnect from themselves in order to keep going.

Her work grew from one life-changing realization: the body is not betraying us - it is often communicating what we have ignored for far too long.

With more than two decades of experience in executive coaching, resilience, and personal transformation, her work now focuses on helping people reconnect with themselves emotionally, physically and spiritually after years of survival-based living.

Anette is a Schneps Media Healthcare Hero honoree and host of Too Strong TV show, launching in Summer 2026. She lives in New York and continues speaking and writing about emotional healing, survival patterns, embodiment, and what it means to come home to yourself again.

Her mission is to help put the soul back into how we live, lead, heal and connect.

Anette DeMattio’s Too Strong for Your Own Good: Success with Soul empowers readers on a soul-level rescue mission. Writing about her experiences of childhood trauma, six cancer diagnoses, and years of high-functioning burnout, the author delivers the AAA framework (Awaken, Alchemize, Ascend) that helps to transform “survival strength” into soul-led power. This framework helps you to awaken to your body’s wisdom and your authentic truth, alchemize your patterns into conscious strength, and ascend to a new way of life that allows you to embrace your integrated, REAL you. The book reads like a somatic guide, at times, and as a spiritual memoir. Through her unique tool, “REAL You Activation System,” the author provides a roadmap to move from being a people-pleaser to becoming the CEO of one’s life.

Too Strong for Your Own Good is designed for people exhausted from the toxicity of work and burnout. Anette DeMattio uses the allegory of the dark superpowers like the stoic swan and the Empty Cup healer, that once supported survival but now drive burnout, to illustrate how what we rely on can drain us slowly. I loved how she talks about the body as an intelligent system, underlining the fact that no matter what we feel or how confused we might be about what to do next, we are in the right place, and our body knows. This book taught me what it really means to come home to myself and to be comfortable in my own body. It covers somatic healing, trauma alchemy, and boundary reclamation and drives home the message that “soft is the new strong.” You will find inspiration and wisdom in these pages as well as the tools you need to heal and grow.

Reader Reviews:
"It felt like someone finally putting language to an experience so many carry silently. That recognition alone is its own kind of healing. By the time you close it, you're left with this feeling of, 'Look at what she walked through… and look at what's still possible for me.'" - Melissa C, Amazon

"I would give 10 stars if I could." - Brilee13, Amazon

"This is not a sugar-coated cancer story. It is a raw, thoughtful account of what it really means to survive. Honest, human, and unforgettable." - John C. Amazon
