Let's meet Toshiharu in the story Toshiharu's Bare Feet: A Loggerhead Story by Rita Kano. Though Toshiharu's head was sleeping, his feet were awake. The feet wanted to go for a walk on the beach but his head was too lazy to wake up. Finally, the two feet and ten toes outnumbered the one head and they decided to go for a walk. The bare feet strolled out of the door. The morning sand was wonderful and the feet felt good. The feet played in the sand, left their marks, and splashed in the shallow water. The feet spied a lot of new things during the walk on the beach. The walk led to the discovery of a loggerhead nest where there were at least 100 eggs.
The book educates young readers on how to protect one of the endangered species on Earth in an interesting way through the story of Toshiharu. The pictures are endearing and make Toshiharu's beach walk come alive for readers. It is a good book for tutors to make their students aware of Loggerhead Turtles, an endangered species, and how they should be protected. Toshiharu's adventure on the beach is exciting and will make young readers want to go for a morning stroll on the beach. I like the way the author has dealt with the topic; it is different and unique, and that makes it a worthwhile adventure for youngsters as they accompany Toshiharu on the beach.
