Author Biography

I grew up playing Final Fantasy and watching Power Rangers. Then one day I sat down to watch a programing block called "Toonami" and my life was never the same. This is not hyperbole. It exposed me to Anime and later inspired me to write my first fanfic. This led to publishing my fanfiction on internet archives. One night I thought, "I'll write my own story from scratch. I'll be a published author." The next day I began the first chapter of what would become my debut novel, "A Mage's Power".

In addition to novel writing, I've been practicing Tae Known Do since I was five and earned a first degree black belt in 2004. I started learning t'ai chi ch'uan in 2016. I also have bachelor degrees in English Literature and World History with a focus on the Classical Mediterranean.

Transcending Limitations: Journey To Chaos (Book Four) by Brian Wilkerson is an intense and exciting fantasy novel. Eric Watley was once a human, but has gone through mutations and now lives in Tariatla. To save his girlfriend, Annala, from slavery, he sacrifices his seed of chaos and becomes human again. With the return of her identity, Annala makes the choice to become a Priestess of Chaos. Within minutes of her ordination, Annala and Eric join the Ordercrafter Hunters and the Elven Preservation Society and embark on a war to free slaves. What subsequently occurs almost destroys Annala and drastically alters her. Annala's new identity transports her from place to place through time, leaving Eric behind. While Annala is traveling through space and time, Eric is confronted with a life-altering decision. Battling spirits, ordercrafters, demons, monsters, fiends, and death at every turn, can Annala and Eric survive? Will they be able to save the future of Tariatla?

Transcending Limitations: Journey To Chaos by Brian Wilkerson is an exhilarating fantasy novel. The author has created an amazing story world, which includes religious aspects, holy quests, golems, elves, monks, gods, and demi-gods. It portrays violent wars and battles between Chaos and Order and life and death. It reads like an enthralling tale of spiritual warfare; complete with quotes from holy books used as weapons and manifestations. It brings gaming to life in a well-told saga. Although this is a phenomenal story, there is one drawback. It is number four in the series, and without reading the first three books, it can be slightly confusing. Despite that fact, the incredible intricacies and thought provoking strategies in gaming are applied in the storyline, creating an awe-inspiring science fiction fantasy series that will thrill those who love MMORPG.

Transcending Limitations by Brian Wilkerson is Book Four in the epic fantasy Journey to Chaos, a novel with a fascinating plot and multidimensional characters. Eric Watley has gone too far this time, provoking many grim reapers that are now after his life. Gruffle, his old enemy, can now have his revenge as he leads a score of ghosts and spirits of nature against Eric. Things could have looked different if Lord Death himself wasn’t in support of the grim reapers. Eric can only survive by pursuing one path: transcending the limits of magecraft and mortality. And can the chaotic deities who stand to support him be trusted?

Brian Wilkerson has written a story that is highly imaginative and the reader will enjoy the spiritual depth of the story. Fans of epic fantasy are in for a gorgeous treat as they follow a compelling hero who stands up against a very powerful enemy. I loved the concept behind the story and, somehow, it reminded me of some of the elements in Greek mythology. Watley is a well-developed character in a land that is brimming with magic and supernatural beings. Readers will love his stature, enjoy the coalitions he engages in, and applaud his courage as he faces tremendous dangers. The author develops the conflict at different levels and it helps to propel the story forward. The plot has many surprises for the reader and there is no doubt that it is the work of great creativity. Transcending Limitations will entertain readers and delight them, but it will also inspire them to look beyond the limits of their capacities. It was a sheer delight reading it.

Transcending Limitations (Journey to Chaos Book 4) by Brian Wilkerson is a fantasy epic novel that would appeal most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who enjoyed the previous books in the Journey to Chaos series, as well as those who enjoy fantasy novels. Eric Watley’s survival is in danger as his Chaotic Starlight spell caused immense damage to the world on a magical level - he has three furious grim reapers after him, and Gruffle wants him dead. Gruffle is supported by Lord Death and has ghosts and spirits backing his desire to see Eric dead. To survive, Eric will have to go further than he ever has before in order to surpass the limits of mortality and magecraft. Will Eric lose himself in rising above mortality, or will he retain his sense of self and triumph over his enemies?

Transcending Limitations (Journey to Chaos Book 4) by Brian Wilkerson has a cover that intrigued me from the moment I saw it; a cloaked figure holding a scythe that I wanted to know more about. The beginning of the book was a bit confusing because I did not read the previous books; I would recommend all readers read this series in order. One of the aspects of the book that I really liked was the fact that it had a map at the very beginning, as it allowed me to gain a better understanding of where the events were taking place in relation to each other. The characters all had a natural feel to them and seemed so real. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I plan to read the previous books in the series!

Transcending Limitations by Brian Wilkerson is the fourth book in the Journey to Chaos series. I did not read the first three books. Maybe they would help you enjoy this fourth book more, but I don’t know. I liked this one a lot and although I’m sure there are some elements from the first three books that might add enlightenment to this story, the story itself was complete. It is almost a 400-page book. This is a massive endeavor tackling such massive concepts as chaos and order, magic on a grand scale, and life after death. I liked the tone and approach Brian Wilkerson took with this story. It is new and refreshing as opposed to that deadly serious, epic tone you get with a lot of big fantasy tales. I liked it. I like to be surprised. I like the unusual. Transcending Limitations has all of that.

I have been a fan of universes where big concepts are personified since I was introduced to this in Marvel Comics many years ago. Brian Wilkerson does a great job with this. Characters with names like Lady Chaos and Lord Death add more to a magical story than a bunch of demons with hard to pronounce, unusual names. I like that this world is feudal. I like that there is a lot of action and there are a lot of interesting characters bringing that action to us. My favorite was Eric, but the priestess of Lady Chaos, who had a big brown wolf as a pet, was a character also hard to resist. The plot here is good. The action is great and the writing is fresh. This is a fantasy that you don’t want to miss.

The Journey to Chaos fantasy series by Brian Wilkerson continues with Book 4, Transcending Limitations. Fans of the series who have followed the story since Book 1, A Mage's Power, would definitely agree that protagonist Eric Watley has come a long way since the day Tasio the Trickster changed his life. He has provoked the reapers and now they seek revenge. Eric’s fight against Death itself will test his abilities more than he can imagine.

The world building is impressive just like its predecessors. Its complexity is maintained enough to give a good depth of quality for readers. As this is already the fourth book in the series, Transcending Limitations is not quite a standalone. It would be best to read the previous books to have a better grasp of the series’ universe, plot continuation, and some of the backstories. That said, Journey to Chaos has evident inspirations from fantasy anime and RPGs. Therefore, imagining the settings and fight scenes will likely be more vivid and clear for some readers.

The ending promises another journey for Eric, as his enemies will never stop their attempts to end his life. Personally, I find the plot tend to be extensive in some parts. On the other hand, with the story concept and the number of characters, other stories or series can definitely be created in the Journey to Chaos universe. There’s an abundance of plot lines for Wilkerson to weave using some of the characters. On the whole, fans of the series will be satisfied with this latest installment.
