Two Hearts’ Christmas Surrender (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 31) is a continuation of Tamara Ferguson’s engaging romance series set around Crystal Lake and its rehabilitation center for wounded military personnel. Sergeant Matt Johnston has returned to his family’s estate near Crystal Lake to search for something a blackmailer believes must be hidden somewhere in his family’s sprawling mansion. Singer Cara Naughton also has her reasons for coming to Crystal Lake; mostly to escape her hidden, dark past. When their paths cross, the attraction is instantaneous, and just maybe they have found the chance to move forward with their lives, together, without fear and shame. But some mysteries still need to be unraveled and solved first.

As an immense fan of Tamara Ferguson’s work, Two Hearts’ Christmas Surrender did not disappoint in any way. By setting this series in and around Crystal Lake, and with each new story including the usual supporting cast of characters that readers have come to know and love, picking up a new novel in the series is like receiving a warm hug from your loved ones when you return home. I particularly enjoy the stability and setting of each iteration, as those familiar characters from past works drift in and out of the lives of the central pair. Ferguson’s ability to create hot, steamy, sexual tension and release without resorting to crassness is one of the highlights of her novels and often is the climax of a long journey toward fulfillment. Her plotting and ability to tie everything back to a generational child sex-trafficking ring operating out of the area is what gives the whole series an air of continuity, and her salute to the brave men and women of the armed forces rings true throughout all the books. This is a wonderfully warm and sweet romance that I greatly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Two Hearts’ Christmas Surrender by Tamara Ferguson is the story of Matt and Cara. He’s a sergeant, and someone has been blackmailing him for years, but he has no idea why or what they want. But when wounded warrior obligations bring him back home to Crystal Rock, he’s determined to figure it all out. Then he meets Cara, a musician in town to teach at a music camp, and sparks fly. As Matt and Cara grow to care about each other, he’s forced to decide if he wants to open up and trust others to help him resolve the blackmail situation or if he wants to continue living his life in solitude. The mystery of the blackmailer and his motivations pushed this story forward, almost more than the romance plot, in my opinion. Matt and Cara were nice together, but I was captivated by the mystery.

Cara and Matt both have secrets, and they’re not little secrets; they are secrets that have defined their lives for a long time. It’s that guardedness that helps them bond, which solidifies the romance that blossoms between them. Two Hearts’ Christmas Surrender is a surprisingly layered romantic suspense novel that gives us fully fleshed out characters with rich histories that were a joy to unravel as the story progressed. Tamara Ferguson has crafted a compelling mystery and romance that kept me engaged, hungry to figure out the blackmailer’s identity and motivation, while smiling as Matt and Cara found their way to one another.

Tamara Ferguson's Two Hearts' Christmas Surrender about the dark secrets and the unexpected love story between Matt, a sergeant, and Cara, a musician. Matt has been blackmailed for years by someone who appears to want something from him. However, he cannot determine what the blackmailer is after. He then returns to his home in Crystal Rock in search of further clues, but instead finds love when he least expects it. The moment he lays eyes on Cara, he realizes he needs to put an end to the threats the blackmailer was causing in his life. Cara, on the other hand, has her history and dark secrets that she is reluctant to reveal. Will their whirlwind romance have a chance, despite the risks and unspoken secrets? Find out in Two Hearts' Christmas Surrender.

Tamara Ferguson's Two Hearts' Christmas Surrender is another gem in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series. It is heartwarming, amazing, and well-written. Despite the rapid development of Cara and Matt's relationship, I couldn't help but desire a love just as genuine as their own. Their thoughts, sentiments, and experiences were so well depicted that I could sense the characters' emotions. Cara is my favorite character because she is beautiful, brilliant, and talented. She makes excellent choices, the food she cooks is delicious, and her home design skills make her the woman I aspire to be. It's no surprise that Matt fell in love with her at first sight. She is just so charming in every aspect. I also fell in love with her large dog, Rudolph. I have a large dog myself, so whenever Rudolph was acting adorable in the narrative, it reminded me of my own best friend. Finally, I loved attempting to figure out what the blackmailer was looking for. The mystery behind Matt's problem, as well as the secrets of Cara's history, made the plot interesting. Overall, it was an interesting read. Well done!
