Meet Alex, a twenty-five year old middle school teacher. She is fiercely independent and stubborn to boot. She has always felt as though she could tell when someone was upset, lying, or telling the truth, you know, just that gut feeling. What if the gut feelings she has are actually more than that? On one of her evening runs, Alex is attacked and dragged into an alley. She begins to get close to escaping when two more big guys enter the picture. She only remembers a little before there is nothing but blackness. When she awakens, she is surrounded by four men and one woman who she believes, Lord help her, are vampires. Certain she has lost her mind, she hears them telling her that not only are they vampires, but she is their Seer, someone who can sense the emotions of those around her. Alex is certain that she will awaken from this nightmare and find that she is at home in bed, but, after three days, she realizes she will have to accept these as truths. There is something else: one of her two brothers that she thought was dead, is alive and being held prisoner by another coven of vampires because of his Seer gift. Can Alex help save her brother and find herself in the process?
Give me more! This book is irresistible, and made me sad that it ended. Alex is conceived as a woman that most women want to be like. She is someone who accomplishes things that seem impossible. Lauren Grimley spins a tale of suspense, pain, and yes ladies, a little bit of love. An enjoyable read from cover to cover. Ladies, grab yourself a good cup of tea and a cozy chair; you are going to want to get comfortable because you won’t want to put this one down.
