Unicorns, Magic, And Slime, Oh My! (Fizzle Fun Book 1) is written by Misty Black and illustrated by Pardeep Mehra. Sage is a very scientifically-minded little girl that loves doing experiments. She loves adding all sorts of fun and interesting things to her experiment like bright colors and even glitter. While having fun making slime, Sage tries all sorts of different mixtures to get the right feel and color without making a huge smelly mess. Will she figure out just the right amount of this and that to make her slimy experiment work or will she wind up with another mess to clean and no fun goo to play with?
It is wonderful that Unicorns, Magic, And Slime, Oh My! is only the beginning of the Fizzle Fun Books. The plot is a lot of energetic fun as Sage tries to find the right ingredients for her experiment to make the perfect slime. The characters are easy for kids to enjoy especially with the illustrations by Pardeep Mehra that are fun and colorful as they show in detail the mess and the magic of Sage’s slimy experiments. I absolutely love and recommend this book for kids of all ages and cannot wait to see what other fun stories will follow in the Fizzle Fun Series. My favorite thing in this story is how Black has woven a valuable life lesson into the plot about how important it is that kids try and try again, no matter how many times they fail, because once they succeed, the results can be magical.
