In a great second installment to the excellent Heroics series by author Alex Kost, Vigilance: A Heroics Novel, readers will be treated to the continuing story of a group of superheroes and their quest to protect Caotico City. Random murders are plaguing the city, and superheroes are not quite the trusted entity that they used to be. When enemies of the superheroes start to join forces, the job of the Heroics team becomes all the more complicated and dangerous. Will the Heroics be able to come together once again to save the city that they love? Or will the now adult team find difficulty in meshing together to do what needs to be done? You'll need to read the book to find out!
I so enjoyed Vigilance: A Heroics Novel. Author Alex Kost has done a fantastic job in creating interesting characters that his readers will enjoy. I especially appreciated how he was able to progress the characters' lives from teenagehood in the first novel to adulthood now. The new complications of their lives as adults, and their ability to interact with each other, added a really neat element to this story. The story had just the right balance of science fiction and realism to make it believable, world creation was superior, and the excitement level was top notch. I highly recommend this novel to any reader, young adult or not, who enjoys science fiction or just a great work of fiction in general. I hope to see more from author Alex Kost in the very near future; he is definitely an author on my must-read list!
