There comes a time when your emotions overflow such that words cannot do the job of adequately expressing yourself. This is what happened to Sabrina Simon. Over seven years, she sat back and penned down her emotions on every topic imaginable. The result of that period of expressiveness is the fifty poems that make up her masterpiece, Violet. The fear of love not being reciprocated, the heartbreak that comes with the parting of ways with a loved one, and the appreciation of the little things that turn an ordinary day into a beautiful one are just a few of the motivations behind some of the poems in this intriguing collection. Read along with her and be enraptured by the beauty of the written word.

The major obstacle to enjoying poetry is the problem of the message getting lost in translation. With Violet that doesn't look like it will be an issue. Sabrina Simon's writing style is very direct and her sentences are simple, lacking the sometimes confusing nuances associated with poems. There is a certain degree of lullaby-like rhyming to her poems and her expressions make them vivid enough for me to paint an imaginative picture in my mind, describing minute details of the circumstances she is experiencing to a high degree. Quiet and Confusion is one particular poem that left me feeling incomplete, like there was more to the poem, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Violet is an intriguing collection of poems by a truly gifted poet. An interesting collection.

Since the age of fourteen, Sabrina Simon has been pouring her heart out onto the pages through her enrapturing verses. Violet is a collection of fifty romance poems she started writing as a teenager until now. Through these intimate verses, Sabrina opens her heart to the world, showcasing how the passage of time changes a person's perspective on love and life. These poems touch upon different stages that a person undergoes while being in love. These stages include unrequited love, first love, being intimate, heartbreak, looking back, and everything in between. Drawing inspiration from her own life experiences, Sabrina pens these beautiful poems that will pull at the heartstrings of any romantic as each poem delves into the wide range of emotions and challenges that love brings into a person's life.

Violet is a poetry collection that will resonate with anyone who has experienced young love. Sabrina Simon captures the very essence of romantic relationships through her expertly crafted verses that display emotion in every single sentence. These poems are personal and intimate, yet they find a way to touch your soul. "What Meets The Eye" was probably my personal favorite of the bunch. It isn't hard to see that while the earlier poems expressed a more idealistic view of love and romance, the later ones embraced the realities as they were. However, all of them retain the underlying themes of love and demonstrate how everyone wishes to lose themselves in the idea of love. If you like poetry and romance, don't miss this one.

Sabrina Simon takes her readers on a roller coaster of emotions in fifty poems about love and loss. Violet is a compilation of poems from Simon’s younger years that show the harder side of love and some of the softness in a new attraction and relationship. The author speaks about mental as well as physical intimacy. While falling in love, her words gently lull the reader into the scene and invite them into an array of relatable emotions. The imagery within the love poems is exquisite, as it uses the senses and seasons to express feelings of peace and belonging. Gentle nods to songs by Eminem and The Doors can be found in the poems. The darker side of Violet is present in the verses about unrequited love. Falling in love is characterized as a disease for which there is no cure, and Simon cautions against it.

Many of the stanzas reflect the cover, especially in the poem “Pain”, and most of the titled and untitled poems make it clear that the author has suffered greatly in her romantic experiences. The reader can imagine both the author’s pain and peace as she travels on an introspective journey with her love life at the center. While reading Simon’s poetry, it’s easy to remember the first taste of infatuation with a person and the intense feelings of depression and frustration that often follow a breakup. I recommend Violet to readers from teens to more mature individuals who enjoy poetry about love in all forms.

Do you ever daydream about how much and how you want to be loved when you're alone? Do you think you like someone but are hesitant to let them know? Are you concerned that you won't find love? Would you like to see a lovely illustration of true love? Violet by Sabrina Simon is the book for you. It's a beautifully crafted collection of poems that will provide you with a new yet compelling insight into the true nature of your feelings. Simon wrote every word with charming, tender honesty, and each poem is the result of emotions that are all personal to her and from her very soul.

"Are You in Love?" was the poem I liked the most in the collection. In this poem, Sabrina Simon paints a stunning, vivid picture of how most of our bodies unconsciously respond when we are in the presence of someone we genuinely admire and like. This poem made me remember some of the most beautiful moments I've personally experienced when in love. My favorite aspect of Violet was how Simon never ceased adding humor which always made me smile. Simon tells the reader to stop wondering if they are really in love, especially when they wonder what to say next in a text because that is the first sign that they are really in love. She even goes further to tell readers that if they detect this sign, they should check with a "local doctor" because they already have the Falling in Love disease. I laughed out loud in this instance. I found Violet a rare read, and feel honored to have met an excellent author whose work I look forward to reading in the future.

I enjoyed the author's passion in her writing, connected to the emotions in the poems. The style of writing and words use definitely made it relatable, we have all dealth with situations and the emotions from them. Writing is a big part of healing for me, I could see it is for the author as well. I was left wanting to ask more questions because the poems were honest and captivating.
