In Walking in the Reign by Rochell Williams, the author takes the events of the last week of Jesus’ time on earth and puts them into a modern setting. The author examines, from different perspectives, fictitious characters who interact with the real characters and Jesus himself. It takes a look at how people in the houses where Jesus took His last meals reacted to him and how the everyday work of life would go on and also be interrupted in our own day. It also takes a look at how those who were present at Gethsemane and interacting with Jesus were touched by Him. It continues on to speculate what was going on with those around the disciples, especially Peter, when he denied Christ three times and how different people would react to the judgment and crucifixion of Jesus in a modern setting. The story raises the question of how we would react in our modern mindset and modern culture.

Walking in the Reign is a powerful and thought provoking work of fiction that goes beyond fiction to reach into the world of truth with which every heart struggles. It is inspiring and convincing as the reader is brought to consider his or her own response to the final days of Christ’s time on earth and His final walk to the cross. The characters and their reactions add a richness to this story that brings it all to life for the reader. The reader will truly have a memorable experience and perhaps even a life changing event from reading this book.
