The adventure room was built by Mom for her three children to play in to keep them from bubbling all over the house. As the siblings played in their new room, they started talking about the different things they wanted to be: a doctor, a policeman, an explorer, and even a cute kitten. But Joey just couldn’t figure out what he wanted to be. Vivvy and Kallie tried to help him with his dream, but what he really wanted to be was a soldier, so he could march and salute. They decided to dress up like their dream: Joey as a soldier, Vivvy as a kitten and Kallie as an explorer. When they walked onto the magic rug in their new adventure room, it thrust them in the air into the clouds, and then plopped them back down into a very different place. Just where do you think these three siblings ended up? Were they still wearing their play dress up clothes? You will have to get the book and read about the great adventure the three siblings went on in their new room.
This story of the three siblings and what they want to be teaches children they can be anything they really want to be. Of course they don’t just pop into another land like magic, but it’s good for children to have a vivid imaginations, dreaming about what their grownup life will be like.
I loved taking a look into the minds of these three kids as their imaginations soared. I liked the way the author had the children helping each other, just like the two girls helping Joey with his dream. And I can’t forget about the mom building a special room, giving her children the opportunity to use their imaginations without limitations.
Young readers will see that it is okay to be different and have different dreams about what they want to do when they grow up. This is a very cute story with great illustrations to go with it, helping the young reader to understand the story even more. I would recommend it to all children because I feel it will help them to use those crafty imaginations they have!
