As Harlowe Bishop brings other members of the task force to speed, Kasper wonders about a case he had worked on with Detective West in which a DEA agent ended up being a hitman for the Mexican cartel. Bishop had been asked to form the task force when something came to the attention of the FBI. There had been four murders and two missing persons across state lines, and this caused alarm. Of the four murders, two don't seem to fit the profile; those of Mera and Rayna Anderson. Another thing the team needs to figure out is the role of the prison letters. Do they offer a clue to solving these murders? To find out how things unfold as the team hypothesizes and tries to unravel the mystery, get a copy of When Good Men Fall by Deanna King.

In When Good Men Fall by Deanna King, FBI Special Agent Kasper Bergman is part of the TCA Task Force. Harlowe Bishop contacts Kasper about killings across Texas and the Oklahoma State Line, which might be linked to two missing persons. Kasper and Harlowe are searching for a man who seems like a good guy, but after something happens, he thinks that killing is the only way to get what he needs. The man Kasper and Harlowe are looking for might even be in law enforcement. During the investigation, Kasper and Harlowe find victims and DNA in unexpected places, which brings them closer to their suspect. When Kasper and Harlowe discover letters that convicted criminals are said to have written to their victims, the puzzle pieces gradually come together.

When Good Men Fall: A Kasper Bergman Novel is a work of fiction penned by author Deanna King in the crime, suspense, and intrigue subgenres. It is best suited to mature adult readers owing to the presence of explicit language throughout. Readers are introduced to FBI Special Agent Kasper Bergman, once a technical whiz kid, now an undercover agent. Assigned to the TCA Task Force, he monitors global chatter for potential threats. However, a disturbing pattern emerges with bones and bodies surfacing across state lines. The investigation kicks into high gear as Bergman, now the Special Agent in Charge, navigates the complexities of prison pen pal letters and unearths shocking connections. The case challenges preconceived notions as the perpetrator appears to be a good man who succumbed to darkness.

Author Deanna King has crafted an intriguing and atmospheric novel that was a truly immersive experience into the world of FBI investigations. I loved the smooth blend of technology, forensic detail, and psychological elements in the plot, keeping the reader hooked and interested in the intricacy of the clues and details of the case. Bergman's character is compelling and well-developed, with a mix of technical expertise and a keen sense of justice that firmly awards him the mantle of capable hero, but he also displays a great emotional range and true vulnerability. The plot's twists and the exploration of the dark side of every human being, whether they’re inherently good or bad, gave a poignancy and unpredictability to the plot that I really enjoyed. Overall, When Good Men Fall is a gripping crime thriller, showcasing the blurred lines between good and evil in the pursuit of justice, and I’d highly recommend it to readers everywhere seeking clever, exciting crime fiction.
