Author Biography

As a child, I read several novels from Agatha Christie and Mary Higgins Clark. After falling in love with the mystery/thriller genre, I began writing short stories in grade school, which teachers often asked me to read aloud in class. Despite winning awards as a newspaper and advertising writer, I never forgot about my love for mystery thrillers. Now, I produce them on a regular basis. My biggest thrill is seeing someone on the beach or at an airport reading one of my novels. Vigilantes have always fascinated me, and the one in this novel appears to be taking the law into their own hands. I hope you find "Serves You Right" to be a great read!

Orion Gregory’s Serves You Right is a must-read for lovers of mystery, murder, and sleuth novels with a touch of drama and thrills. Weaving a web of mystery around an ingenious plot, Gregory introduced me to an exciting cast. The edge-of-the-seat suspense, spell-binding cliffhangers, and jaw-dropping plot twists hooked me, leaving me turning through page after page. Gregory unfolds the story through a multi-perspective timeline, paying enough attention to detail without bogging down the pace. The evocative cinematic depictions brought the scenes to life on the pages. It felt like I was on the streets of Walsh County, watching the cast make their moves. I savored the sharp, character-driven conversations, entwined with banter, sarcasm, and wit. Along with the introspective voice, they gave depth to the cast’s intricate emotions, complex traits, and conflicts. I loved this book. Serves You Right by Orion Gregory is a gritty and suspenseful thriller where small-town expectations are shattered by big-time crimes. Sydney Livingstone, a former tennis pro turned rookie detective, joins the force in quiet Walsh County, Ohio, hoping for a peaceful life with her fiancé, Enzo. But peace is elusive. A vigilante calling themselves ‘The Enforcer’ has emerged on the dark web, meting out a deadly form of justice that puts Sydney and her new department in the crosshairs. As tensions rise, an experienced officer is being stalked in a manner that defies logic and security: are these cases connected, or is something more sinister unfolding beneath the surface? As Sydney navigates layers of deceit, anonymous threats, and institutional obstacles, she must uncover the truth before justice turns deadly for everyone.

Author Orion Gregory has a knack for timing in a tense crime thriller that gripped me from the first page. This is a story filled with layered plotlines and escalating stakes, delivered in an atmospheric, moody style that gives you time to settle into the dark corners of modern life, yet always be looking over your shoulder with our heroine for the next revelation. Characterization is key in this tale, and I was glued to Sydney’s story as this strong, refreshingly original protagonist brings a lot of emotional depth to her investigative grit. I found the storytelling very naturally done through dialogue that serves both the emotions Sydney is going through and the delivery of the plot. This blends the themes of justice, corruption, and anonymity in the digital age perfectly into the plot without sacrificing pace or intrigue. Overall, I highly recommend Serves You Right as a perfect read for those who crave character-driven thrillers with moral complexity and unpredictable twists.

In Orion Gregory's Serves You Right, Sydney Livingstone has recently left her career in professional tennis and is now a rookie detective with the Walsh County Police Department in Ohio. A figure known as the Enforcer is on a killing spree, targeting individuals guilty of murder but acquitted in court. After an incident in which she was threatened at gunpoint with her own gun during an interrogation, she faced suspension. While Sydney was on leave, Chief Pratt provided her with links to dark web forums that featured discussions about the police department to assist her in researching the Enforcer. Some details that had surfaced in the media were previously classified within the department, indicating the presence of a mole or that the Enforcer had access to the police station. Meanwhile, an experienced officer has become the target of a stalker who shows blatant disregard for law enforcement. Sydney must determine if these cases are linked and uncover the identity of the Enforcer before time runs out.

Serves You Right by Orion Gregory was a gripping story that kept me thoroughly engaged. The storyline was fast-paced and filled with so much action that it never let up until the conclusion. I was drawn in initially, and I found it difficult to stop reading. With numerous twists and unexpected developments, I was continuously caught off guard by the unfolding events. The writing style was captivating, making it easy to get immersed in the investigation. The characters felt genuine and relatable. Even though Sydney was new to the department, she had to figure out whom to trust and whom to be wary of. The book was exceptionally well-written and held my attention the whole time. The ending was an absolute surprise that I did not anticipate.
