Monstrosity: Apartment Complex on Deadman Lane Episodes 9–12 Box Set by KJ Walt continues the adventures of Yoska Draper and the residents of the apartment complex on Deadman Lane. When Essie’s supernatural instincts warn her that something is terribly wrong in apartment number eight, she and Yoska uncover a gruesome murder unlike anything they have encountered before. As they begin to investigate, strange vines, paranormal investigators, shifters, ghosts, and long-buried family secrets collide in a series of unpredictable events. Riley's life is thrown into chaos when he uncovers a startling secret about his past, but Yoska must safeguard his strange family against any danger that arises. From life-threatening challenges to touching reunions and funny encounters, the residents of the apartments need each other to get through it.

Author KJ Walt combines comedy, thriller, supernatural mystery, and emotional connections into one package. I loved how the dialogue was realistic yet also very entertaining. I loved Yoska’s funny narration and how he brought some comic relief to some otherwise very tense situations. KJ Walt put unexpected emotional depth into the story with all the absurd supernatural twists of the plot. Every character living in Deadman Lane is unique, and it turns this building into something like a family in which you start to care about all of them. The unique episode-like narrative style was perfect. It increased the pace of the plot without making it overwhelming and made the story a lot more entertaining. I could think of a few Supernatural episodes like that, and I loved it. This was a fun read, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the upcoming episodes.

In KJ Walt’s Monstrosity, Yoska Draper runs the building on Deadman Lane, where the tenants have become the family he never expected. When Essie, the sixteen-year-old daughter he only recently found, senses something wrong in apartment eight, Yoska discovers a dead man pinned to the ceiling by blood-red vines. The investigation brings Special Officer Ryan DeMonte to the building, and his resemblance to tenant Riley Aguerra raises questions about a childhood Riley thought he understood. Ryan also arrives with mountain-lion shifter Jethro Sheldon, whose first encounter with Javier Solvair changes the household again. As the case reaches beyond the dead stranger, another threat touches someone Yoska loves, forcing him to defend a home that keeps turning strangers into family almost by accident.

KJ Walt’s Monstrosity: Episodes 9–12 is a paranormal comedy that knows exactly what it is doing, because Walt understands that a recurring cast works best when every person walks in known to the reader. The episodic format hits the sweet spot, and each disaster creates room for a different kind of trouble to stroll through the lobby. Comfrey’s later walk beyond the porch is fantastic, especially when Yoska uses music to help her cross the distance that kept her inside. Yoska is the real deal. Walt turns his ridiculous nicknames into affection. Rainbow Teen tells us how he sees someone he loves. Spinning Drug Dealer confirms it. Even the stairwell ghosts are hilarious when they torment newcomers at the worst possible moment. Walt knows comedy works best when affection is built right in. Readers who enjoy paranormal comedy should pick this up.

Yoska Draper comes to terms with the baggage attached to his inheritance from his uncle and, in true caring-landlord fashion, wholeheartedly steps into the chaos that comes with tenants as diverse as the bunch inhabiting his property. This time, a dead body contorted in ways better left imagined and a tenant's premonitions warn Yoska that another unusual adventure beckons. The onus now lies on the sharp-witted landlord to decide how best to navigate the craziness about to explode in his face. Read along and encounter a dangerously dark new form of comedy in KJ Walt's Monstrosity: Apartment Complex on Deadman Lane Episodes 9-12.

Bad language and rib-cracking humor dominate the latest installment of KJ Walt's Monstrosity series. A detailed introduction to the occupants of each apartment, along with a brief history of who they are involved with and the nickname Yoska attaches to each, complements Walt's serialized delivery. This approach makes it easy for new readers to follow the narrative as a standalone. The dialogue mostly features Yoska and his tenants interacting over daily affairs, with a comedic undertone. Action genre readers will appreciate the strategically placed fight sequences. Romance enthusiasts will enjoy following Yoska’s transition as his relationship with one of his tenants blossoms into something deeper. The narrative style smoothly moves from urban comedy to paranormal, with the ghosts from the previous books joined by witches, fae, and the odd werewolf in this one. Walt weaves these elements together with a subtle family-oriented theme that makes Monstrosity appealing to a wide range of readers.
