Whickering Place by London Clarke is the second book in the Legacy Of Darkness series. Almost 10 years after a vicious attack, Avery Tullinger struggles to leave her home. When her estranged father dies, he leaves her Whickering Place, an imposing mansion in North Carolina. There are two tenants, Colin and his half-brother Pearse, that Avery allows to stay on. Shortly after moving in, she learns of the supernatural happenings in the house – those that her father experienced and she herself. A dangerous cult has started in the town, a cult known as The Colony, and as paranormal activity heats up in the house, Avery learns that Pearse is part of it. The Colony involves bloody rituals and the demonic forces that inhabit the house want more, leaving Avery forced to make choices she never dreamed she would face. Will she escape unscathed? Who is Maris and what are the strange coins all over the house?

Whickering Place is another fine offering from London Clarke and, although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone novel. This is a gripping story, one that will grab you from the start and send chills down your spine. And the stunning ending will leave you begging for the next book, to follow Avery into the next chapter of her life. This is two stories in one, a budding, sometimes burning romance and spine-tingling bloody horror. Both stories intertwine perfectly in a plot that flows naturally and is action all the way. There really is no let-up here as London Clarke drags you kicking and screaming through a tale of terror with some well-defined characters that you can really relate to. If you’ve read the previous books by London, then you will love this one. If you haven’t, she’s about to become your new favorite author.
