Based on a true story, White Men Make the Best Lovers is a contemporary romance novel by Flora Pickett-Coley. At twenty-six, Danielle is a fiercely independent Black woman. She is an attorney at a prestigious law firm and has her own luxurious home in Fort Lauderdale. After her boyfriend, Carl, cheats on her, Danielle is convinced that she is better off dating White men. A couple of senior partners at her firm already have a crush on her. She begins a romantic relationship with attorney Max, and they seem destined to be together. But after Danielle leaves for London with senior partner Ted, she slowly begins to fall in love with him. On their wedding day, however, an unexpected tragedy turns Danielle's life upside down.
White Men Make the Best Lovers is a steamy interracial love story packed with romance, suspense, and intrigue. If you're a fan of love triangles, you're going to have a blast with this one. It's one of those stories where you're not really sure who you want your protagonist to end up with. Both Max and Ted bring their own unique qualities to the table for Danielle. I liked her chemistry with both men but felt she was happier with Ted. That being said, the ending was definitely shocking to me, and I think the cliffhanger will only make readers more eager for the sequel. Flora Pickett-Coley paces the plot really well, incorporating timely twists and turns to keep you on your toes. All in all, this novel is tailor-made for readers of contemporary romance.
