Woe is Me...It's Autumn! is an educational and colorful book for young children, written and illustrated by Amy Dua. It follows the travels of a little bee that visits its other animal friends at the start of autumn. Little Bee meets with a caterpillar spinning a cocoon, a squirrel that has hidden food away, a skunk that will reappear only when spring arrives again, a bear getting ready for hibernation, and also a young girl who picks apples for making cider, apple pies, and caramel apples on sticks. The story ends by stating that just like the wild animals, humans know that autumn brings colder weather, and, like the animals, they must prepare for the snow that comes with wintertime.

Woe is Me... It's Autumn! has a charming, playful look and feel about it, and although it is educational, it leaves ample room for young children's curiosity and sense of exploration. Children learn about animals' instincts surrounding seasonal change, and there is also an opportunity for parents to further educate their young readers on different animals' behavior in times of changing weather. Amy Dua's wording rhymes and is concise enough to keep young children's attention. The illustrations are especially captivating yet vibrant, as well. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the animals as well as the human characters, showing how we are all interdependent. Woe is Me... It's Autumn! has all the right elements for an adventurous yet wholesome read for parents and young children.
