World of the Beasts by Kaitlyn Deann is a young adult science fiction sequel to the first book in this series, The Witches’ Sleep. Sea-Anna and Tuck are two were-tiger slaves that have been enslaved unto witches for the past twenty years. When they get sold without their master's knowledge, the married couple is separated. Now on her own, Sea-Anna must overcome the struggles of slave life, including the difficult and stressful situations she is put into. Sea-Anna promises herself that she will stay strong to protect her secrets until the time she sees Tuck again. But what if the two are never reunited?

This is a complicated science fiction world that takes us deep into the author's vivid and bright imagination. Each planet that the characters visit is unique and has its own type of inhabitants. There are many different species within this story. There are unique names and spellings, new rules, beautiful new landscapes, climates and temperatures. Everything is fresh and original and none of the descriptions seemed canned or repeated. Just the amount of work that went into building these worlds should impress any science fiction reader. Readers will also appreciate the unique array of characters. I loved the interesting name choices. Sea-Anna grows into a wise and strong character that readers will relate to. Tuck stresses a great deal about his separation from Sea-Anna and their love is adequately described without seeming too overpowering.

Masterful. Brilliant. Genius. Beautiful. Breathtaking.

These words spring to my mind when I think of Kaitlyn Deann’s sequel, “World of the Beasts.” Can I say anything more to possibly elaborate on how fantastic this book was? I’m not sure; those five words capture it all. But I shall try.

WOTB is an incredible sequel to the first book, “The Witches’ Sleep.” Previously, there has only been one instance, in all the books I’ve read, that a sequel has surpassed the first book in a trilogy—and that was with “Catching Fire” in the Hunger Games. I can now state that there are two instances in which the sequel is better—WOTB is by far more complex and breathtaking than TWS. Don’t get me wrong, I loved TWS. However, WOTB is even better. The plot twists, the character development, the pacing, the action, the emotions…every aspect of this book is superb.
Deann is a fantastically talented writer, and I see her stories going VERY far. I can definitely see a movie deal coming from these books. The world-building in her books, but especially WOTB, is also phenomenal. Each planet is unique with its own kind of people, different name spellings, rules, landscapes, temperaments, and more. Everything about the world-building in this book is completely original—there isn’t a shred of cliché to be found.

I can’t praise this book highly enough. Not only was it incredible in delivery, but it had quite possibly one of the best endings I’ve read in a book. Hat’s off to the author. I am extremely impressed with WOTB and I’m looking forward to the third installment in this series.

Excellent book for #2 in the trilogy. It was a thrill ride a minute just like first in the series.you cannot help but fall in love with the expertly written characters. I recommend the witches sleep trilogy to anyone who enjoys good literature. I am eagerly awaiting the last book of the set.

I think this book does more than expand the beautiful universe Deann set up in the first book. We get to delve more into the minds of the various characters we fell in love with while also introducing new characters. I was enthralled throughout the whole ride.

This is…wow. So much wow. I read the first book over a year ago and had forgotten what a skilled and talented authoress this young lady is. If she EVER even CONSIDERS putting a stop to her writing, I will have WORDS. No book is perfect and I did have some minor issues, but the overall storyline, character development, world building, plot twists…I was amazed by how well put together it was. The writer took her time with releasing this, getting everything just the way she wanted it, and I cannot argue with what a great book has resulted. Simply marvelous.

The plot:

I got to about 20% into this book and stopped. I knew bad things were about to happen and really didn’t want them to because I love the characters. However, an hour-long wait to take a college test forced me to stop being a baby and just read and I was so happy that I did.

I was never quite able to accurately predict what would happen. There were times when I thought “oh, the author would never let that happen” and then she DID. There were also times when I thought “oh, no, SHE’S GOING TO DO IT,” but she showed mercy on the characters (and I thank her for that). In short, this story was far from predictable and I enjoyed the not-knowing immensely.

The characters:

Sea-Anna is my dear little baby and I can’t say I was happy for most of this book because of that. She goes through a maelstrom of character development and it was wonderful to see how much stronger and wiser she had grown by the end. She was perfect before, but she somehow managed to become even more amazing.

Tuck also gets a few perspective chapters in this book and since he was one of my favorite characters in book 1, I loved it. I admit there were lots of twists about him that I didn’t see coming, but the fact remains that I adore him as much as Sea-Anna and that led to a great deal of stress. MAJOR stress.

Sunny still plays a large role in this book, despite a focus on Sea-Anna and her storyline. Some questions left open-ended in the first book come into play in her sequence and she makes some world-shattering discoveries about Raena and the whole of the world. The relationship between her and Clap continues to be precious and don’t even get me started on her and Kindness. <3 Everything about the way their dynamics are portrayed is adorable with just the perfect amount of grounding in reality.

Overall, I adored this book. The new species that are introduced, the amazing handling of suspense and character development as well as the promise of an even juicier sequel have left me aching for the next book. Again, I say that Miss Deann better keep on writing because the world needs more books like this!

:)

This is a great book. I read the first one then had to read this one can't wait for the next one. It has action, friendships, mystery, and love. So get it and enjoy.

A gripping sequel that will leave you breathless in wonder. It's full of smiles, tears and laughter. Also plenty of awes and nail biting. We follow Sea-Anna, Sunny and occasionally even Tuck in their latest journey. Their tales gripping your heartstrings and taking you to a whole new world and even answering a few questions you, as a reader, might have been asking from the first book.
It was well worth the wait of it's arrival. I cannot wait for the thrilling conclusion of this series. I will be sad to see it end though.

Vanessa

I absolutely loved this book. I had read Ms Deann's first book The Witch's Sleep and could not wait for the second book to be published. The World of the Beast is insightful, entertaining and heartbreaking. I will be looking for the next one.
