Wrecker is a thriller in the true sense of the word. This is the story of Steve and Jane Havelock and their four year old daughter Allie. Steve was an arrogant loudmouth and abusive husband. He blamed his family for anything that went wrong. Jane was a likable woman, trying to cope with her dense husband. Steve hired a stranger, Rob Manteo, to do the handyman chores around the house. Rob charged little for his work, convincing Steve it was a real bargain. There was a sense of secrecy and mystery surrounding Rob. At first Jane was uncomfortable around him; but she was also lonely, and soon she made friends with the large, muscular man.
Wrecker is sure to keep the reader rapidly turning pages. There are enough twists and turns to make a pretzel. Every time I thought I had it figured out there would be another twist, and I’d realize I was wrong. I easily connected to the character of Jane. Steve and Rob were enigmas. It was hard to judge which one was really the bad guy. Both men had been wronged. This book contains coarse language, but is an excellent thriller.
