Gary Elliot shares his life story alongside some mesmerizing poetry in You Can Get Through This With God's Help. In this book, Gary recalls the impact of Jesus Christ. Jesus became Gary's savior at a time when he felt lost and helpless in life. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Gary moved to Seattle after college, got married, and started working for Boeing. However, he became an emotional wreck filled with anger, resentment, hatred, and abandonment after his wife left him in 1990. While going through the divorce, he lost some friends and gained others. After lots of counselling, Gary found peace and fulfillment by taking an active part in missionary work with his second wife, Judy. He and his wife also successfully overcame their respective battles with cancer.
You Can Get Through This With God's Help is truly an inspiring piece of work. Gary Elliot gives a thorough account of his life in this part memoir, part poetry book. It leaves you with a sense of hope and optimism that only the best motivational books can. By recounting the highs and lows of his life, Gary shows how much faith in God helped him navigate some of life's toughest moments. His poetry is illuminating, focusing on the power of faith, prayer, and positive affirmations. The author has an engaging way of presenting his life story, and for this reason, I think most readers will be able to relate to him and resonate with his feelings. I'm definitely one of them. If you're looking for something motivational, I highly recommend this book.
